3Relating to Tallapoosa County; to authorize the
4 collection and expenditure of a fee for remote access of
5 records; and to ratify and confirm prior collection and
6 expenditure of fees.
7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
8Section 1. This act shall only apply in Tallapoosa
9 County.
10Section 2. (a) The Tallapoosa County Judge of Probate
11 may charge and collect an additional fee for the remote access
12 of records in the office of the judge of probate by computer
13 or other electronic or digital system.
14(b) Fees collected pursuant to subsection (a) shall be
15 deposited into the special indexing fund of the Tallapoosa
16 County Judge of Probate or any successor special fund under
17 the control of the judge of probate. The funds shall be used
18 for the maintenance, operation, and improvement of the office,
19 including, but not limited to, the recording system and
20 remote-access services.
21(c) The judge of probate shall have discretion to
22 determine the appropriate use of these funds for the general
23 operation, technology needs, or improvement of the office.
24Section 3. The collection and expenditure of fees for
25 remote access of records in the office of the judge of probate
26 by computer or other electronic or digital system prior to the
27 effective date of this act are ratified and confirmed.
28Section 4. This act shall become effective on June 1,
