A house RESOLUTION
To recognize and honor Chaplain, Colonel Brian L.
Bohlman, upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of exemplary
service, and to wish him continued success and happiness in all his future
endeavors.
Whereas, it is
altogether fitting and proper that the members of the House of Representatives
of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express
their gratitude to Chaplain,  Colonel Brian L. Bohlman, for his significant
contributions to the United States Air Force, the South Carolina Air National
Guard, the Georgia Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force Chaplain
Corps; and
Whereas, Colonel
Bohlman is a graduate of the Community College of the Air Force, Liberty
University, Columbia International University, and Erskine Seminary. He was
ordained in 1996 and is endorsed by the Coalition of Spirit-Filled Churches;
and
Whereas, in 1992 Chaplain
Bohlman began his military career when he enlisted in the Air Force as a chaplain
assistant. He earned his commission through the Air Force Reserve Chaplain
Candidate Program in 1997. In 2000 he became a chaplain in the South Carolina
Air National Guard, until 2018, when he transferred to the Georgia National
Guard; and
Whereas, he held many
positions in the United States Air Force Chaplain Corps, including Wing
Chaplain at the 169th Fighter Wing, Chaplain at the 116th
Air Control Wing, Staff Chaplain at the USAF Chaplain Corps College, Augmentee
Chaplain Inspector with ACC and AMC, Staff Chaplain at USSOUTHCOM for the
National Guard State Partnership Program, and Staff Chaplain for Joint Plans
and Exercises at USAFE HQ; and
Whereas, when Colonel
Brian L. Bohlman was assigned to Georgia Air National Guard Joint Force
Headquarters, he served as the 139th Intelligence Squadron Chaplain
and National Guard Assistant for the U.S. Air Forces Africa at Ramstein
Airbase, Germany. In this role, he advised senior leaders on the National Guard
State Partnership Program Chaplain Corps engagements, built interoperability
with NATO and Allied Chaplains, and cared for the warrior's soul by providing
and coordinating spiritual support for 50,200 Total Force Airmen, DoD
civilians, and families; and
Whereas, Chaplain
Bohlman has supported five State Partnership Program engagements in South
America and the Caribbean. He was deployed seven times and has ministered on
every continent. In 2013, he was named the Air National Guard Chaplain of the
Year; and
Whereas, he is an ordained
minister of Harvest Church in Lexington, and resides in West Columbia with his
beloved wife, Shelley, and their daughter, MaryEllen; and
Whereas, grateful for
his many years of distinguished service, the members of the South Carolina
House of Representatives take great pleasure in extending their best wishes to
Colonel, Chaplain Brian L. Bohlman as he transitions to a well-deserved
retirement and the leisurely, unhurried pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the
South Carolina House of Representatives,
by this resolution, recognize and honor Chaplain, Colonel Brian L. Bohlman,
upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of exemplary service, and
wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Chaplain, Colonel Brian L.
Bohlman.
