sb259/chaptered.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDACT No. 752SENATE BILL NO. 259BY SENATORS BARROW, ABRAHAM, BARTHELEMY, CARTER, DUPLESSIS,HENRY, JACKSON-ANDREWS, JENKINS, LUNEAU, MIZELL,PRICE, SELDERS AND WHEAT12AN ACT3 To enact R.S. 46:2136.2(H), relative to domestic abuse assistance; to authorize the creation4of a statewide portal to allow an online application for a protective order; to provide5relative to a petition for a temporary restraining order; and to provide for related6matters.7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8Section 1. R.S. 46:2136.2(H) is hereby enacted to read as follows:9§2136.2. Louisiana Protective Order Registry; statewide portal10* * *11H. The judicial administrator's office may develop and implement a12statewide portal that allows petitioners to file an online petition requesting any13protective order authorized by this Part. Notwithstanding any provisions of R.S.1446:2134(D), any petition for a protective order filed through a statewide portal15shall require an affirmation signed and dated by electronic means by the16petitioner that the facts and circumstances contained in the petition are true17and correct to the best knowledge, information, and belief of the petitioner,18under penalty of perjury pursuant to R.S. 14:123.
