1AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:429(A), relative to office of motor vehicles field offices; to
3provide relative to service and transaction fees local governments may levy to fund
4office of motor vehicles field offices, not fully funded by the state; to increase the
5maximum fee allowed per service or transaction statewide; to remove specific
6authority granted to certain parishes regarding maximum service and transaction
7fees; and to provide for related matters.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9Section 1. R.S. 32:429(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
10§429. Office of motor vehicles field offices; authorization of fees
11A.(1) The governing authority of any local governmental subdivision is
12hereby authorized to levy, by resolution, a fee for each service or transaction carried
13out as an operation of an office of motor vehicles field office that is not fully funded
14by the state. Except as provided in Paragraph (2) of this Subsection, the The fee shall
15not exceed four eight dollars and fifty cents per service or transaction and shall be
16used solely to defray the cost of operations of that local field office, including but not
17limited to facility rental, utilities, and maintenance. The fee shall not be charged for
18the procurement or renewal of a motor vehicle registration license.
19(2) The fee provided for in Paragraph (1) of this Subsection shall not apply
20to the office of motor vehicles field offices located in Shreveport, Louisiana. may be
21levied in an amount not to exceed six dollars by the local governing authority of the
22parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and Calcasieu.

1(3) The fee provided for in Paragraph (1) of this Subsection may be levied
2in an amount not to exceed eight dollars by the local governing authority of the city
3of West Monroe.
