hr0055/introduced.txt*HR1555*Introduced VersionHOUSERESOLUTION No. ___Introduced by: Clere, Engleman____________________________________1A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring the Floyd Central2 High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps3 Rifle Team.4 Whereas, The Floyd Central High School Navy Junior5 Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) rifle team won the6 NJROTC Precision Rifle National Championship for the second7 consecutive year;8Whereas, The Floyd Central High School NJROTC rifle9 team is known for exceptional marksmanship and consistently10 demonstrates its excellence in shooting competitions;11Whereas, Its members shoot with air rifles in three positions:12 prone, kneeling, and standing, allowing them to learn and13 demonstrate precision and accuracy while following strict14 safety protocols;20262422HR 1555/DI 140 202621Whereas, The Civilian Marksmanship Program, in2 cooperation with the Missouri Marksmanship Education3 Center, hosted the NJROTC National Championships at its new4 state-of-the-art training facility in Columbia, Missouri, from5 February 12 to February 14;6 Whereas, Fifty-one sporter teams and 20 precision teams7 gathered from across the country to compete for national8 honors. Representing 22 states and a United States Department9 of Defense school from Japan, the championship field10 showcased the increasing strength and reach of scholastic11 marksmanship;12Whereas, Competition was fierce from the first relay to the13 final shot, but the Hoosier athletes from Floyd Central High14 School rose to the occasion in commanding fashion;15Whereas, Cadets Megan Fondy, Logan Hall, Ysabelle16 Martinez, Lacy Schilmiller, and Emma Velten make up the rifle17 team that won the team competition with a score of 4,709,18 which was 104 points higher than that of the second-place team19 and by far the greatest margin of victory separating any of the20 top contenders;21Whereas, Lacy Schilmiller finished first in the nation in the22 individual competition, Ysabelle Martinez finished second, and23 Logan Hall finished sixth with scores of 464.5, 464.1, and24 418.4, respectively;25Whereas, Master Gunnery Sergeant Leonard Akermon is the26 NJROTC instructor for Floyd Central High School and trains27 the members of the rifle team to be outstanding marksmen;28Whereas, Competing on the rifle team requires cadets to be29 extremely focused, patient, and disciplined, and they must excel30 academically to participate; and31Whereas, Indiana shooting sports continue to demonstrate32 not only competitive excellence but also the depth of talent33 being developed within its scholastic programs, and the Floyd34 Central High School NJROTC rifle team is a prime example:20262422HR 1555/DI 140 202631 Therefore,2Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the3General Assembly of the State of Indiana:4SECTION 1.
