Celebrating the life of Robert Elston Greene.

WHEREAS, Robert Elston Greene of Chesterfield, an emergency medical professional who touched countless lives through his passion for service and public safety, died on January 24, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Robert “Reg” Greene grew up in Richmond, where his late father, O.E. Buster Greene, was a member of the Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads (VAVRS); and
WHEREAS, from a young age, Reg Greene actively supported both organizations, from participating in Christmas tree sales and Brunswick stew fundraisers to washing ambulances; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from college, Reg Greene followed in his father's footsteps by joining the Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1990 and was certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and a cardiac technician; and
WHEREAS, Reg Greene was proud to serve the community and was a trusted mentor to newer members of the Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad; even after earning life membership, he continued to lend assistance at the station and later joined the Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary; and
WHEREAS, for 17 years, Reg Greene also worked as a 911 dispatcher through SOAR365, a nonprofit organization that helps families care for and support loved ones with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Reg Greene was a dedicated member of District 3 of VAVRS, serving as the sergeant-at-arms for the VAVRS Board of Governors' spring event for more than 10 years and as a longtime co-chair of EMT competitions; and
WHEREAS, Reg Greene enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Matoaca, where he served as a deacon and a member of the hospitality committee; and
WHEREAS, Reg Greene will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife, Bonnie; his sister, Beppie, and her family; his stepchildren, Nicholas, Kurtis, and Mel, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert Elston Greene, a life member of the Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad who worked diligently to serve and safeguard members of his community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert Elston Greene as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
