HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2026-4698, by Representatives Walsh, Chase, and Burnett
1     WHEREAS, The people of Washington State share a rich cultural
2 history and a strong bond with the people of Iran and the more than
3 15,000 Iranian Americans living and working in Washington State; and
4     WHEREAS, Iranian Americans living and working in Washington have
5 impacted our state and continue to further personal freedom,
6 individual rights, and the democratic values that drew them here; and
7     WHEREAS, The people of Washington State recognize the Iranian
8 immigrants who have come to Washington and otherwise built deep ties
9 to our state for their innumerable contributions to our communities;
10 and
11     WHEREAS, The people of Washington State enjoy a more vibrant
12 heritage and economy from the cultivation of deep ties with Iranian
13 American residents and the people of Iran; and
14     WHEREAS, Going forward, the people of Washington State hope to
15 establish even stronger direct and mutually beneficial commercial
16 connections and cultural exchanges between the people of Iran and the
17 people of Washington State; and
18     WHEREAS, The people of Washington State recognize the fierce
19 determination of advocates for personal freedom, individual rights,
20 and democratic values in Iran and within Washington's Iranian
21 American community;
22     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House
23 of Representatives support advocates for personal freedom, individual

1 rights, and democratic values in the Iranian American community in
2 Washington and recognize the importance of a strong and enduring
3 relationship   between   the   people    of   Washington   State—including
4 Washington's Iranian American community—and the people of Iran.
