hjr208/enrolled.txtCelebrating the life of Deborah Fisher Williams.Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 9, 2026Agreed to by the Senate, March 11, 2026WHEREAS, Deborah Fisher Williams, a trusted community leader and public servant who guided Spotsylvania County through periods of significant growth as the longtime commissioner of the revenue, died on February 9, 2026; andWHEREAS, Deborah “Debbie” Fisher Williams joined the staff of Spotsylvania County in the 1980s, originally serving in a temporary position working with business, professional, and occupational licenses; andWHEREAS, in recognition of her dedication, Debbie Williams subsequently became the full-time meals tax administrator, later advanced to a supervisory role, then was selected as an assistant to the commissioner of the revenue; andWHEREAS, beginning in 1995, Debbie Williams was elected to eight consecutive terms as commissioner of the revenue, becoming a vital source of institutional knowledge during her long and distinguished tenure in local government; andWHEREAS, with the local population nearly doubling over the course of her career, Debbie Williams witnessed significant growth and change in Spotsylvania County, but was committed to providing the same exceptional customer service and attention to detail; andWHEREAS, Debbie Williams was an inspirational mentor and a loyal friend, who was admired for her sense of humor, dedication to fairness, and unwavering love for her family; andWHEREAS, predeceased by her husband, James, Debbie Williams will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Melissa and Katy, and their families and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be itRESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Deborah Fisher Williams; and, be itRESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Deborah Fisher Williams as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
