A house RESOLUTION
to honor and recognize Elijah Jennings on an amazing
season and to congratulate him on winning An International Professional Rodeo
Association World Championship Title and his first Victory at the Professional
Bull Riders Pendleton whisky Velocity Tour.
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to hear eighteen-year-old
Elijah Jennings, of Cleveland, has emerged as one of the most promising young
bull riders in the sport after an impressive season that led him to winning a
world championship title with the International Professional Rodeo Association
at the 56th International Finals Rodeo in January. He then transitioned into
the professional bull riding tour circuit, having his first career victory at
the toughest professional development tour in bull riding, the Professional
Bull Riders Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour; and
Whereas, at the season
ending championship, the International Professional Rodeo Association's
International Finals Rodeo, Jennings delivered impressive and consistent
performances across multiple rounds, besting many of the top competitors from
across the country, and winning the top bull riding spot in one of the sport's
most respected seasonal championships with an 84.25-point ride; and
Whereas, he then entered
the professional bull riding tour circuit, and right away he earned his first
career victory at the Professional Bull Riders Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour stop
in Van Andel Arena, during the Cooper Tires PBR Grand Rapids event. He had a
good start, lasting the full eight seconds on his first bull for 85.80 points
in the second round. Elijah took the lead with the fourth out of the
Championship Round, with an exceptional 87.60-point ride to reach 173.40 points
and overtake the current leader, Cole Trivette; and
Whereas, these accomplishments
are just the beginning for Elijah, who is making his mark in the PBR, at just eighteen
years old, as an experienced and fearless rider. Many eyes will be on Elijah as
he goes on throughout the rest of the Professional Bull Rider season in hopes
of continuing to qualify for higher profile events, such as the PBR Finals in
May, while gaining status and traction in the bull riding world among a new
wave of increasingly competitive riders across the United States; and
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition
that Elijah Jennings has brought to his community and the State of South
Carolina with these spectacular victories, and look forward to following his
future accomplishments. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the
South Carolina House of Representatives,
by this resolution, honor and recognize Elijah Jennings on an amazing season and
congratulate him on winning an International Professional Rodeo Association
World Championship title and his first victory at the Professional Bull Riders
Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour.
Be it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Elijah Jennings.
