Brady v. The McCartyCorporation, et al1AN ACT2 Relative to the appropriation of monies out of the state general fund to be used to pay the3consent judgment captioned "Milton G. Brady versus The McCarty Corporation, et4al" between the state of Louisiana, through the Board of Supervisors of Southern5University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, and Carolyn Abbott Brady,6Ashley Brady, Chad Brady, and Alaine Brady Fayard; to provide for an effective7date, and to provide for related matters.8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:9Section 1. The sum of Sixty-Five Thousand and No/100 ($65,000.00) Dollars is10 hereby payable out of the State General Fund (Direct) for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 for11 payment of the consent judgment captioned "Milton G. Brady versus The McCarty12 Corporation, et al", signed on February 20, 2024, between the state of Louisiana, through the13 Board of Supervisors of Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, and14 Carolyn Abbott Brady, Ashley Brady, Chad Brady, and Alaine Brady Fayard, bearing15 Number C-697575, Section 26, on the docket of the Nineteenth Judicial District, parish of16 East Baton Rouge, state of Louisiana.17Section 2. The judgment may only be paid from this appropriation if it is final and18 shall be paid as to principal, interest, court costs, and expert witness fees as awarded in the19 judgment. If the provisions of the judgment conflict with the provisions of this Act, the20 provisions of the judgment shall be controlling. Any other provision of this Act not inPage 1 of 2HLS 26RS-593 ORIGINALHB NO. 9601 conflict with the provisions of the judgment shall control. Payment shall be made only after2 presentation to the state treasurer of documentation required by the state treasurer. Further,3 the judgment shall be deemed to have been paid on the effective date of this Act, and interest4 shall cease to run as of that date.5Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not6 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature7 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
