4 SJR___ COMMENDING NORTH SAND MOUNTAIN GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM
5 FOR WINNING THE 2026 ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC
6 ASSIOCIATION 2A STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

8WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly
9 presented to the North Sand Mountain High School Girls
10 Basketball Team, located in Higdon, Alabama, on winning the
11 2026 Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class
12 2A State Basketball Championship; and
13WHEREAS, through teamwork, diligence, and a
14 commitment to excellence, the North Sand Mountain Bisons
15 took the 41-28 victory over Cold Springs, making history by
16 claiming the school's first state title; and
17WHEREAS, the Bison's point guard, Kayden Reyes, was
18 named the State Finals Most Valuable Player scoring 15
19 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals; and
20WHEREAS, the game began with the Bisons starting off
21 with an 11-0 lead as Cold Springs missed its first 10 shots;
22 North Sand Mountain held an 11-point lead at halftime; the
23 Cold Springs Eagles narrowed the gap to five points in the
24 third quarter; North Sand Mountain regained control with a
25 decisive 6–0 run to start the fourth quarter, putting the
26 game in point guard Reyes' hands to protect the ball and run
27 the clock; in the final seconds, Reyes flashed a smile
28 signifying the historic win for the North Sand Mountain

29 Girls Basketball Team; and
30WHEREAS, the North Sand Mountain Girls Basketball
31 Team has been coached and inspired by Head Coach Jeremiah
32 Haynes and by assistant coaches Loran Schrader and Brian
33 Smith; the team has also received guidance from team manager
34 Georgia Shoemaker; under their leadership, the players have
35 broadened their knowledge of the game, refined their skills
36 in execution, and established a school tradition of superior
37 play and true sportsmanship; and
38WHEREAS, the talented athletes on the North Sand
39 Mountain Girls Championship Basketball Team are Crystal
40 Ellis, Kenna Kirby, Chloe Giles, Brenley Kirkpatrick, Ally
41 Gamble, Madison Renfro, Kayden Reyes, Kaleigh Roberts,
42 Raygan Weldon, Abby Shaffer, Cara Summerford, Kali
43 Kirkpatrick, Bryleigh Crow, and Mackie Crow; and
44WHEREAS, the North Sand Mountain Girls Basketball
45 Team's success is a tremendous source of pride for their
46 families, classmates, teachers, administrators, and the
47 entire community, whose dedication and support have played a
48 crucial role in motivating the team; now therefore,
49BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
50 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the North Sand Mountain 2026
51 Girls Basketball Team and coaches are highly honored and
52 commended on winning the AHSAA Class 2A State Championship
53 Title, and we hereby dedicate this resolution to them in
54 utmost admiration, along with best wishes for continued
55 success.
