 AN ACT CONCERNING THE CORRECTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
 Assembly convened:
1Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 18-81jj of the 2026 supplement to
2     the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu
3     thereof (Effective October 1, 2026):
4(a) There is established the Correction Advisory Committee that shall
5     consist of eleven members [. Such members] who shall be appointed as
6     follows:
7(1) One who is directly impacted, appointed by the Senate
8     chairperson of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly
9     having cognizance of matters relating to the Department of Correction;
10(2) One who has expertise in law, specifically the rights of
11    incarcerated persons, appointed by the House chairperson of the joint
12    standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of
13    matters relating to the Department of Correction;
14(3) One who has a demonstrated interest in advancing the rights and

15 welfare of incarcerated persons, appointed by the president pro tempore
16 of the Senate;
17    (4) One who has a demonstrated interest in advancing the rights and
18 welfare of incarcerated persons, appointed by the speaker of the House
19 of Representatives;
20    (5) One who has expertise in the provision of mental health care to
21 incarcerated persons or formerly incarcerated persons, appointed by the
22 minority leader of the Senate;
23    (6) One who has expertise in the provision of medical care to
24 incarcerated persons or formerly incarcerated persons, appointed by the
25 minority leader of the House of Representatives;
26    (7) One [of whom] who is a victim of a violent crime, a person who
27 advocates for victims' rights or an attorney who has represented a victim
28 of a violent crime, appointed by the House ranking member of the joint
29 standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of
30 matters relating to the Department of Correction;
31    (8) One who has an expertise in corrections, appointed by the Senate
32 ranking member of the joint standing committee of the General
33 Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the Department of
34 Correction; and
35    (9) Three who are appointed by the Governor, one of whom has
36 expertise in corrections, one of whom has expertise in medication in a
37 correctional setting and one of whom is directly impacted.
  This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
  sections:
