Subsection (a) of section 18-81jj of the 2026 supplement to2 the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu3 thereof (Effective October 1, 2026):4(a) There is established the Correction Advisory Committee that shall5 consist of eleven members [. Such members] who shall be appointed as6 follows:7(1) One who is directly impacted, appointed by the Senate8 chairperson of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly9 having cognizance of matters relating to the Department of Correction;10(2) One who has expertise in law, specifically the rights of11 incarcerated persons, appointed by the House chairperson of the joint12 standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of13 matters relating to the Department of Correction;14(3) One who has a demonstrated interest in advancing the rights andLCO 3134 1 of 2Raised Bill No. 50715 welfare of incarcerated persons, appointed by the president pro tempore16 of the Senate;17 (4) One who has a demonstrated interest in advancing the rights and18 welfare of incarcerated persons, appointed by the speaker of the House19 of Representatives;20 (5) One who has expertise in the provision of mental health care to21 incarcerated persons or formerly incarcerated persons, appointed by the22 minority leader of the Senate;23 (6) One who has expertise in the provision of medical care to24 incarcerated persons or formerly incarcerated persons, appointed by the25 minority leader of the House of Representatives;26 (7) One [of whom] who is a victim of a violent crime, a person who27 advocates for victims' rights or an attorney who has represented a victim28 of a violent crime, appointed by the House ranking member of the joint29 standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of30 matters relating to the Department of Correction;31 (8) One who has an expertise in corrections, appointed by the Senate32 ranking member of the joint standing committee of the General33 Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the Department of34 Correction; and35 (9) Three who are appointed by the Governor, one of whom has36 expertise in corrections, one of whom has expertise in medication in a37 correctional setting and one of whom is directly impacted.This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the followingsections:Section 1 October 1, 2026 18-81jj(a)JUD Joint FavorableLCO 3134 2 of 2
