1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to health; modifying fees recoverable by a coroner or medical examiner;
1.3amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 390.15.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 390.15, is amended to read:
1.6390.15 FEES.
1.7(a) The coroner or medical examiner may charge a fee for cremation approval, duplication
1.8of reports, and other administrative functions to recover reasonable expenses, subject to
1.9county board approval.
1.10(b) A coroner or medical examiner may charge a fee to cover reasonable expenses for
1.11conducting a medical record review when an individual, facility, or organization refuses to
1.12act as the medical certifier and complete a death record as required under Minnesota Rules,
1.13part 4601.1800. The fee may include administrative expenses associated with the medical
1.14record review and completion of a death record.
