1		HOUSE RESOLUTION
2		    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3		Representatives wish to congratulate the Central High School
4		Varsity Cheerleading squad, the Cougars, on winning the
5		2025-2026 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A
6		Competitive Cheerleading State Final; and
7		    WHEREAS, The Cougars established themselves as one of the
8		top teams in the State during the regular season, capturing
9		first place in the 1A division at both the Edwardsville
10		Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) Invitational,
11		hosted by Edwardsville High School in December 2025, and the
12		All the Lights Competition at Lakes High School in January
13		2026; and
14		    WHEREAS, The Cougars carried that momentum into the
15		postseason at the Edwardsville Sectional on January 31, 2026,
16		where the squad earned a first-place finish, securing the
17		program's ninth sectional championship in competitive
18		cheerleading and 17th appearance at the State finals; and
19		    WHEREAS, The preliminary round of the IHSA Competitive
20		Cheerleading State Final took place on Friday, February 6,
21		2026 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, where the
22		Cougars finished first out of 25 teams in the 1A division with

1		a score of 94.02, more than two points ahead of Columbia High
2		School; and
3		    WHEREAS, The Cougars captured their fifth state title with
4		a victory over Pinckneyville High School and Mater Dei High
5		School on February 7, 2026; and
6		    WHEREAS, The Cougars are led by Coaches Julianne Jacob,
7		Tea Cripe, Blake Bowers, and Morgan Jansen; and
8		    WHEREAS, The members of the 2025-2026 Cougars include Abby
9		Becker, Mabry Benhoff, Grace Deiters, Anna Florcyzk, Ivy
10		Heimann, Avery Hemker, Hayden Lampe, Camryn Langhauser, Alyse
11		Morris, Grace Nordike, Jacey Robke, Maddy Ross, Halle
12		Schlautman, Ambryn Shirley, Lauren Jurgensmeyer, Remi Radloff,
13		Sarah Attaway, and Lily Thole; therefore, be it
14		    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15		HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16		we congratulate the Central High School Varsity Cheerleading
17		squad, the Cougars, on winning the 2025-2026 Illinois High
18		School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Cheerleading
19		State Final, and we wish the squad many more successful
20		seasons; and be it further
21		    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be

1		presented to the players and coaches of the Cougars as a symbol
2		of our respect and esteem.
