1AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 84 and to enact Code of Civil
3Procedure Article 84.1, relative to venue; to provide for suits involving the
4Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System; to establish venue; and to provide
5for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 84 is hereby amended and reenacted and
8 Code of Civil Procedure Article 84.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9Art. 84. Action involving certain retirement systems and employee benefit programs
10Actions involving the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System, Office
11of Group Benefits, State Police Pension and Relief Fund, Louisiana School
12Employees' Retirement System, Louisiana School Lunch Employees' Retirement
13System, Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana, Assessors' Retirement Fund,
14Clerks of Court Retirement and Relief Fund, District Attorneys' Retirement System,
15Municipal Employees' Retirement System of Louisiana, Parochial Employees'
16Retirement System of Louisiana, Registrar of Voters Employees' Retirement System,
17Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund, Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System,
18or the Firefighters' Retirement System shall be brought in the parish of East Baton
19Rouge or in the parish of the domicile of the retirement system or employee benefit
20program.
21Art. 84.1. Actions involving the Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System
22A. If the defendant is the Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System
23or its board of trustees, the action shall be brought in the parish of East Baton Rouge
24or in the parish of the domicile of the retirement system or employee benefit
25program.

1B. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, if the Municipal
2Police Employees' Retirement System or its board of trustees is the plaintiff, the
3action shall be brought only in the district court having jurisdiction in the parish in
4which the cause of action arises.
