4 HR____ CELEBRATING THE 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITED
5 STATES OF AMERICA.

7WHEREAS, the United States of America celebrates the
8 250th Anniversary of its founding in 2026, known as the
9 Semiquincentennial, marking a historic milestone in our
10 nation's journey of liberty, self-government, and the
11 enduring promise of freedom; and
12WHEREAS, the State of Alabama proudly recognizes the
13 importance of commemorating this once-in-a-generation
14 anniversary by honoring the principles set forth in the
15 Declaration of Independence and celebrating the people,
16 places, and events that continue to shape the American
17 story; and
18WHEREAS, American Village in Montevallo, Alabama, is
19 a nationally recognized educational institution dedicated to
20 preserving and teaching the ideals of liberty, citizenship,
21 and civic responsibility through immersive historical
22 experiences and programs that inspire citizens of all ages;
23 and
24WHEREAS, American Village serves as a unique
25 gathering place where Americans can reflect upon the
26 founding principles of our nation and celebrate the legacy
27 of freedom that unites us all; and
28WHEREAS, the Sweet Home 250 Festival, to be held on

29 July 3-4, 2026, at American Village, will bring together
30 citizens, students, veterans, families, and visitors from
31 across Alabama and beyond to celebrate America's 250th
32 Anniversary with patriotic programs, educational activities,
33 and community fellowship; and
34WHEREAS, this celebration will highlight Alabama's
35 deep connection to the American story and provide an
36 opportunity for citizens to reflect on the sacrifices made
37 for our freedoms while inspiring future generations to
38 cherish and uphold the values upon which our nation was
39 founded; and
40WHEREAS, the Alabama USA Semiquincentennial
41 Commission continues to coordinate statewide efforts to
42 ensure that this historic anniversary is commemorated to
43 educate, engage, and unite citizens to participate
44 throughout the State of Alabama; now therefore,
45BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
46 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we hereby designate American
47 Village as Alabama's Official Celebration Capital for the
48 United States of America Semiquincentennial and recognize
49 the Sweet Home 250 Festival, to be held July 3–4, 2026, as
50 Alabama's Official Celebration of America's 250th
51 Anniversary.
52BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we encourage all
53 citizens, communities, schools, and organizations across our
54 state to join in commemorating this historic milestone by
55 reflecting on our nation's founding ideals and celebrating
56 the freedoms we cherish as Americans.
