Printed 4/29/26--S.Read the first time April 7, 2026________A concurrent RESOLUTIONTO CELEBRATE THE RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE, HISTORY,AND ENDURING CONTRIBUTIONS OF CAMBODIAN AMERICANS AND TO DECLARE APRIL 2026CAMBODIAN HERITAGE MONTH IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.Whereas, the members ofthe South Carolina General Assembly appreciate the rich cultural heritage,history, and enduring contributions of Cambodian Americans who have helpedshape and strengthen the communities in our Great State; andWhereas, many Cambodianfamilies came to the United States seeking refuge and opportunity, carryingwith them deep-rooted faith, resilience, and determination to rebuild theirlives while preserving their cultural identity; andWhereas, faith hasplayed a central role in the Cambodian American experience, serving as a sourceof strength, healing, and unity across generations; andWhereas, spiritualinstitutions such as Wat Sao Sakh San Khmer Buddhist Temple in Wellford, theSpartanburg Buddhist Center of South Carolina in Spartanburg, and the CambodianBaptist Church in Wellford stand as pillars of faith, compassion, and community;andWhereas, the CambodianAssociation of South Carolina, in partnership with Generations for America, iscommitted to building bridges between cultures and generations, fosteringunity, encouraging civic engagement, and empowering future leaders; andWhereas, these effortsreflect the shared values of faith, service, and community that strengthen thebonds uniting all South Carolinians.
