hr98/enrolled.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionHOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 98BY REPRESENTATIVE CHASSIONA RESOLUTIONTo designate Wednesday, April 8, 2026, as Big Brothers Big Sisters Day at the state capitol.WHEREAS, youth served by Big Brothers Big Sisters programs experienceimproved academic outcomes, stronger relationships, higher aspirations, and greaterlong-term economic success; andWHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana, Big Brothers BigSisters of Acadiana, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater New Orleans work to create andsupport one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth; andWHEREAS, these organizations work to unlock the potential of Louisiana's childrenby creating and supporting relationships between young people from age six to youngadulthood, who are referred to as "Littles", and caring volunteer mentors, who are referredto as "Bigs"; andWHEREAS, innovative initiatives such as the Big Futures program expand theorganization's reach through a dual-impact mentoring model in which high school studentsserve as mentors to younger youth while receiving structured workforce-readinessprogramming; andWHEREAS, participants in Big Futures, who are referred to as "High School Bigs",develop leadership skills, strengthen academic engagement, and gain exposure to financialliteracy, professional development, postsecondary pathway planning, and more; they alsomodel positive behaviors and academic commitment for younger students; andWHEREAS, this model not only supports the growth and success of mentees, butprepares participating high school students to become engaged citizens and role models; andPage 1 of 2HR NO. 98 ENROLLEDWHEREAS, during the 2025 fiscal year reporting period, the organization served sixhundred eighty-five youth statewide, recruited four hundred eighty-one prospectivevolunteers, and served four hundred new youth through expanded one-to-one relationships,High School Bigs, and small-group mentoring models; andWHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, Big Brothers Big Sisters ofSouthwest Louisiana, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater New Orleans demonstrateunwavering commitment in their mission to ignite the potential of Louisiana's youth, andtheir efforts are most deserving of the highest recognition.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of theLegislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, April 8, 2026, as Big BrothersBig Sisters Day at the state capitol and does hereby express enduring appreciation for thecontributions made to Louisiana youth by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, BigBrothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater NewOrleans.SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 2 of 2
