A senate RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND honor THE SOUTH CAROLINA ADVENTURE
ROUTE FOR ITS CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUTDOOR RECREATION, TOURISM, AND THE PROMOTION
OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S NATURAL BEAUTY, AND TO EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR RESPONSIBLE
ADVENTURE TRAVEL AND MOTORCYCLING THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize the South Carolina Adventure
Route for its contributions to outdoor recreation, tourism, and the promotion
of South Carolina's natural beauty; and
Whereas, the South
Carolina Adventure Route is a carefully designed adventure motorcycling route
that spans the State of South Carolina, guiding travelers through the diverse
landscapes and scenic backroads that make the Palmetto State unique; and
Whereas, the route
connects many of South Carolina's geographic regions, beginning in the
foothills and mountains of the Upstate and traveling through the forests and
farmland of the Midlands before continuing into the sandhills and coastal
plains of the Lowcountry; and
Whereas, along its path,
the South Carolina Adventure Route highlights portions of Oconee, Pickens,
Greenville, Anderson, Abbeville, McCormick, Edgefield, Aiken, Lexington,
Richland, Fairfield, Newberry, Kershaw, Lancaster, Chester, and York Counties,
providing riders and travelers the opportunity to experience the natural
beauty, historic communities, and rural landscapes of these regions; and
Whereas, the route
passes near many of South Carolina's notable natural and historic destinations,
including the Sumter National Forest, scenic backroads of the Piedmont, the
rolling farmland of the Midlands, and the sandhill regions that lead travelers
toward the Lowcountry; and
Whereas, the South
Carolina Adventure Route promotes responsible outdoor recreation by encouraging
riders and travelers to safely explore public roadways, respect private
property, and appreciate the environmental and cultural heritage of the State;
and
Whereas, adventure
tourism continues to grow across the United States, bringing economic
opportunities to small towns and rural communities through increased visitation
to local restaurants, lodging establishments, fuel stations, outfitters, and
historic sites; and
Whereas, by guiding
visitors through lesser-traveled scenic roads and communities, the South
Carolina Adventure Route helps showcase the hospitality and charm of South
Carolina's counties and regions while strengthening tourism and economic
development throughout the State; and
Whereas, initiatives
such as the South Carolina Adventure Route encourage citizens and visitors
alike to discover the beauty of South Carolina's mountains, forests, farmland,
rivers, and coastal plains while fostering a deeper appreciation for the
history and character of the Palmetto State; and
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that
the individuals and organizations who have developed and promoted the South
Carolina Adventure Route have shown in serving the people and the State of
South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the
South Carolina Senate, by this resolution,
recognize and honor the South Carolina Adventure Route for its contributions to
outdoor recreation, tourism, and the promotion of South Carolina's natural
beauty, and to express support for responsible adventure travel and
motorcycling throughout the State.
Be it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the organizers and supporters of
the South Carolina Adventure Route.
