[609.421] BRIBERY OF A JUROR.1.7Subdivision 1. Offering bribery. Whoever offers, gives, or promises to give, directly1.8 or indirectly, to a juror in any court in the state, whether impaneled or not, any benefit,1.9 reward, or consideration, with intent to influence the juror's vote or position on a matter1.10 before the juror, is guilty of a felony and may be sentenced as provided in subdivision 3.1.11Subd. 2. Receiving bribery. Whoever, being a juror summoned to any court in the state,1.12 whether impaneled or not, requests, receives, or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly,1.13 any benefit, reward, or consideration, with the understanding that in exchange this will1.14 influence the juror's vote or position on a matter before the juror, is guilty of a felony and1.15 may be sentenced as provided in subdivision 3.1.16Subd. 3. Sentence. A person who violates this section may be sentenced to imprisonment1.17 for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both.1.18EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective August 1, 2026, and applies to crimes1.19 committed on or after that date.Section 1. 104/10/26 REVISOR VH/EI 26-08007 as introduced2.1 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.425, is amended to read:2.2 609.425 CORRUPTLY INFLUENCING LEGISLATOR OR JUROR.2.3 Whoever by menace, deception, concealment of facts, or other corrupt means, attempts2.4 to influence the vote or other performance of duty of any member of the legislature or person2.5 elected thereto to the legislature or a juror summoned to any court in the state, whether2.6 impaneled or not, may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than five years or to2.7 payment of a fine of not more than $10,000, or both.2.8 EFFECTIVE DATE.
