h8458/introduced.txt2026 -- H 8458========LC006190========STATE OF RHODE ISLANDIN GENERAL ASSEMBLYJANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026____________HOUSE RESOLUTIONCONGRATULATING AND HONORING THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF RHODEISLAND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SUCCESSDURING THE 2025-2026 SEASONIntroduced By: Representatives Felix, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Chippendale, Hopkins,Noret, Diaz, Sanchez, Bennett, and VoasDate Introduced: April 16, 2026Referred To: House read and passed1WHEREAS, The 2025-2026 Community College of Rhode Island Women's Basketball2 Team continued its remarkable run of outstanding success on the basketball court, compiling an3 astounding 22-3 overall record, including a perfect 14-0 record in regional play, and attaining its4 fifth consecutive NJCAA Region XXI Championship; and5WHEREAS, The Knights recent run of winning includes an incredible streak of more6 than 60 consecutive victories against regional opponents, as well as five consecutive appearances7 in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament; and8WHEREAS, Achieving such an exceptional level of success this past season would have9 been impossible unless every player gave their all and put team needs ahead of personal goals.10 The 2025-2026 Community College of Rhode Island Women’s Basketball Team had these vital11 attributes in abundance, as they were led all season by the outstanding contributions of its12 student-athletes, including Layla Perry, Ella Johnson, Natalyah Williams, Kellylyn Kozlin, Emma13 Harding, Parisa Monteiro, Sydney Waitekus, Genesis McNeil, Meleeya Robbins, Qiana Sumner,14 Emily Moran, and Charlize Romero; and15WHEREAS, The Knights were also led all season by the outstanding coaching and16 leadership of Head Coach Doug Haynes. Under the guidance and direction of Coach Haynes, the17 Knights program has become a model of consistency and competitive excellence. Coach Haynes18 was recently named the NJCAA East District Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season,19 an unprecedented achievement; and1WHEREAS, The outstanding student-athletes of the 2025-2026 Community College of2 Rhode Island Women’s Basketball Team represent the very best of CCRI and our State, both on3 and off the court, as they demonstrated at all times incredible discipline, teamwork, and4 commitment to academic and personal growth; now, therefore be it5RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby6 heartily congratulates the Community College of Rhode Island Women’s Basketball Team for its7 outstanding success during the 2025-2026 Season; and be it further8RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to9 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Community College of Rhode Island10 Women’s Basketball Team, Head Coach Doug Haynes.========LC006190========LC006190 - Page 2 of 2
