hcr68/enrolled.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionHOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 68BY REPRESENTATIVES BAYHAM, BERAULT, BILLINGS, WILFORD CARTER,CARVER, EGAN, FREEMAN, GLORIOSO, DANA HENRY, JACKSON, MENA,MURRAY, NEWELL, TAYLOR, WRIGHT, AND WYBLEA CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONTo memorialize the United States Congress to take such actions as are necessary to secureten million dollars in funding to be provided to the Louisiana Department ofTransportation and Development from the fiscal year 2027 Transportation, Housing,and Urban Development appropriations request for purposes of removing four closedbridges on United States Highway 90 in St. Tammany Parish.WHEREAS, four bridges on United States Highway 90, constructed nearly onehundred years ago, were closed by the Louisiana Department of Transportation andDevelopment in May 2022 due to structural integrity deficiencies; andWHEREAS, these closures resulted in the cutting off of a significant commercial,commuter, and hurricane evacuation corridor to Mississippi for residents of and businessesin St. Tammany, Orleans, and St. Bernard parishes; andWHEREAS, the removal of these unsafe structures would be the first step in theeventual reconnection of the critical segment of United States Highway 90 linking the NewOrleans metropolitan area to the state of Mississippi and the eastern gulf coast.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does herebymemorialize the United States Congress to take such actions as are necessary to facilitate thefuture reconstruction of the segment of United States Highway 90 in St. Tammany Parishby taking such actions as are necessary to secure ten million dollars in funding to beprovided to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development from the fiscalyear 2027 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development appropriations request forpurposes of removing four closed bridges on United States Highway 90 in St. TammanyParish.Page 1 of 2HCR NO. 68 ENROLLEDBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to thepresiding officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Congress of theUnited States of America and to each member of the Louisiana congressional delegation.SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPRESIDENT OF THE SENATEPage 2 of 2
