Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTO HONOR ANDRECOGNIZE THE MILITARY MAGNET ACADEMY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM, COACHES, ANDSCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNINGTHE 2026 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.Whereas, the members ofthe South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to hear that theMilitary Magnet Academy girls basketball team took home the highest honor atthe 2026 Class A State Championship game held on Saturday, March 7, at ColonialLife Arena; andWhereas, thischampionship game showcased the hard work and determination that this team hasput in all year. These young athletes, including two seventh graders, two eighthgraders, and four freshmen, defied all of the odds stacked against them. The MilitaryMagnet Academy Eagles dominated their competition, Great Falls High School,from the beginning of the game. The Eagles forced thirty-one turnovers andtwenty-three steals. The team also had nine three-pointers and shot forty-fivepercent from the floor. The Eagles ended the game 70-21, finishing the seasonwith an impressive 26-4 record and winning back-to-back championship titles;andWhereas, MilitaryMagnet Academy had many standout performances at the championship game, includingMariah Brown, who scored twenty-five points, including five three-pointers andseven rebounds, Da'Nariyah Williams, who scored ten points and grabbed eightboards, and Kaleah Brown-King, who scored eleven points and seven rebounds; andWhereas, this win marksthe Military Magnet Academy girls basketball team's fifth championship win inthe last six years; andWhereas, Head CoachNathaniel Taylor and his talented coaching staff utilized their own experienceand passion for the sport to craft a championship-caliber team. The lessonsthat they have taught these young athletes will continue to impact them on andoff the court; andWhereas, the MilitaryMagnet Academy girls basketball team has brought immense pride and recognitionto their school and community. The members of the South Carolina House ofRepresentatives are honored to recognize these outstanding student athletes fortheir achievements both on the court and in the classroom. They look forward tohearing of the team's future accomplishments in the days to come.
