25WHEREAS, Representative Stanley Jack "Stan" Berry, formerly of Dover,
26 Arkansas, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the age of seventy-one
27 (71); and
28
29WHEREAS, Representative Berry was born on May 20, 1954, in Dover,
30 Arkansas, to Jack Berry and Elaine Churchill Berry; and
31
32WHEREAS, Representative Berry had a life defined by public service,
33 serving in the National Guard and on the Dover School Board, the Dover City
34 Council, the Tri-County Water Commission, and the Pope County 911 Board; and
35
36WHEREAS, Representative Berry was a member of the Dover Lions Club for

1 more than thirty-seven (37) years, where he was a charter member and a Melvin
2 Jones Fellow, and where he served in numerous roles to support Dover schools;
3 and

5WHEREAS, Representative Berry was known for his strong impact on his
6 local community, for which he was honored as Citizen of the Year and
7 presented with the Good Samaritan Award by the Dover Chamber of Commerce; and
8
9WHEREAS, Representative Berry was noted for his faith and was a member
10 of Dover Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder; and
11
12WHEREAS, Representative Berry served the people of his local community
13 and his state through his extended service as a legislator, first serving as
14 a representative for District Forty-Four (44) from 2003 until 2007, and later
15 returning to serve his district again from 2019 until his passing in 2026;
16 and
17
18WHEREAS, Representative Berry served on many committees while a member
19 of the House of Representatives, including the Joint Committee on Military
20 and Veteran Affairs, the House Committee on Public Transportation, the House
21 Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs, and the Legislative
22 Joint Auditing Committee during the Ninety-Fifth General Assembly; and
23
24WHEREAS, Representative Berry had a strong history of leadership during
25 his time in the House of Representatives, where he served as chair or vice-
26 chair of numerous committees, including Vice Chair of the House Committee on
27 Judiciary during the Ninety-Fourth General Assembly and Chair of the House
28 Juvenile Justice and Child Support Subcommittee and Chair of the Committee on
29 Educational Institutions of the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee during
30 the Ninety-Third General Assembly; and
31
32WHEREAS, Representative Berry was known for his kindness and his deep
33 desire to help those around him, whether they were his fellow lawmakers, his
34 constituents, his family, or the community that he called home; and
35
36WHEREAS, Representative Berry demonstrated an enduring passion for the

1 support of education, advocating throughout his career both for schools such
2 as Dover High School, home to his beloved Dover Pirates, and for educators,
3 such as his wife and daughters, who dedicated their careers to schools; and
4
5      WHEREAS, Representative Berry is survived by his wife of more than
6 thirty (30) years, Mona Berry, by his children, Blake Berry, Casey Taylor,
7 Justin Singleton, and Kelsey Scott, and by his nine (9) grandchildren; and
8
9      WHEREAS, the people of District Forty-Four (44) and the State of
10 Arkansas are fortunate to have been served by Representative Berry in his
11 capacity as a member of the House of Representatives,
12
13 NOW THEREFORE,
14 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
15 STATE OF ARKANSAS:
16
17      THAT the Senate remember Representative Stanley Jack "Stan" Berry and
18 recognize his numerous contributions to the State of Arkansas and to his
19 local community.
20
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption of this resolution, an appropriate
22 copy be provided to Mona Berry and family by the Secretary of the Senate.
