142; D.C. Official Code § 1-523.01), and pursuant to section 5 of the Office and Commission on
African Affairs Act of 2006, effective June 8, 2006 (D.C. Law 16-111, D.C. Official Code § 2-1394),

17  RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
18   resolution may be cited as the "Commission on African Affairs Tina Zewde Confirmation
19   Resolution of 2026".
20  Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

27   as a public member of the Commission on African Affairs, established by section 4 of the Office
28   and Commission on African Affairs Act of 2006, effective June 8, 2006 (D.C. Law 16-111, D.C.
29   Official Code§ 2-1393), filling a vacant seat formerly held by Jean-Francais Varre, for the
30   remainder of an unexpired term to end October 27, 2028.
31  Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
32   upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Mayor.
33  Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

                    Ms. Tina Zewde is an entrepreneur and community advocate based in
                    with extensive experience in early childhood education, leadership, and
                    IT project management with Lockheed Martin. Fluent in Amharic, Ms.
                    Zewde is passionate about education, technology, and community
                    development. She serves the Ethiopian community as a volunteer with the
                    Ethio-American Chamber of Commerce - Silver Spring.
                    A Ward 4 resident, Ms. Zewde earned her Bachelor of Science in
                    Computer Information Systems Management from Southeastern
                    University and her Master’s in Education from the University of the
                    District of Columbia.
