20WHEREAS, the week of May 3 through May 9, 2026, has been designated as
21 Public Service Recognition Week to honor employees of the federal government
22 and state and local governments and members of the uniformed services who are
23 entrusted with missions fundamental to the United States and deliver services
24 upon which Americans depend; and
25
26WHEREAS, twenty-one thousand (21,000) federal government employees,
27 seventy thousand (70,000) state government employees, and one hundred
28 fourteen thousand (114,000) local government employees serve the public in
29 every county and city across the state of Arkansas; and
30
31WHEREAS, public servants make substantial contributions to Arkansas
32 communities through teaching children and adults, protecting life and
33 property, improving health, licensing businesses and professionals, building
34 infrastructure, running elections, supporting families, managing natural
35 resources and public lands, developing the workforce and the economy, and
36 enforcing laws and regulations that undergird private-sector growth, protect

1 consumers, and sustain the conditions for a competitive and innovative
2 marketplace; and

4WHEREAS, public servants are critical to protecting the safety and
5 security of Arkansans, working every day, often at great personal risk, to
6 prevent harm, respond to crises and safeguard the lives and well-being of the
7 communities they serve; and
8
9WHEREAS, public service is a noble calling involving a variety of
10 challenging and rewarding professions, and highly skilled and trained
11 individuals offer their knowledge, effort, and expertise in support of the
12 public good,
13
14 NOW THEREFORE,
15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
16 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

18THAT the Senate:
19(1) Commend the dedication, professionalism, and patriotism of
20 the public servants of the State of Arkansas who deliver essential services
21 to the people of Arkansas;
22(2) Recognize the indispensable role of public servants in
23 strengthening the Arkansas economy, protecting the safety and security of the
24 public, safeguarding individual rights, and sustaining the foundations of
25 democratic self-governance;
26(3) Honor the contributions of all public servants during Public
27 Service Recognition Week, May 3 through May 9, 2026, and throughout the year;
28 and
29(4) Call upon the people of the state of Arkansas to honor and
30 acknowledge the service of those who work on their behalf.

32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be
33 provided to the leadership of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Society
34 for Public Administration by the Secretary of Senate.
