SENATE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEMORATE ARKANSAS PUBLIC SERVANTS AND TO
OBSERVE PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK FROM MAY 3
THROUGH 9, 2026.

TO COMMEMORATE ARKANSAS PUBLIC SERVANTS
AND TO OBSERVE PUBLIC SERVICE
RECOGNITION WEEK FROM MAY 3 THROUGH 9,
2026.
WHEREAS, the week of May 3 through May 9, 2026, has been designated as
Public Service Recognition Week to honor employees of the federal government
and state and local governments and members of the uniformed services who are
entrusted with missions fundamental to the United States and deliver services
upon which Americans depend; and
WHEREAS, twenty-one thousand (21,000) federal government employees,
seventy thousand (70,000) state government employees, and one hundred
fourteen thousand (114,000) local government employees serve the public in
every county and city across the state of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, public servants make substantial contributions to Arkansas
communities through teaching children and adults, protecting life and
property, improving health, licensing businesses and professionals, building
infrastructure, running elections, supporting families, managing natural
resources and public lands, developing the workforce and the economy, and
enforcing laws and regulations that undergird private-sector growth, protect

consumers, and sustain the conditions for a competitive and innovative
marketplace; and
WHEREAS, public servants are critical to protecting the safety and
security of Arkansans, working every day, often at great personal risk, to
prevent harm, respond to crises and safeguard the lives and well-being of the
communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, public service is a noble calling involving a variety of
challenging and rewarding professions, and highly skilled and trained
individuals offer their knowledge, effort, and expertise in support of the
public good,
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
STATE OF ARKANSAS:
THAT the Senate:
(1) Commend the dedication, professionalism, and patriotism of
the public servants of the State of Arkansas who deliver essential services
to the people of Arkansas;
(2) Recognize the indispensable role of public servants in
strengthening the Arkansas economy, protecting the safety and security of the
public, safeguarding individual rights, and sustaining the foundations of
democratic self-governance;
(3) Honor the contributions of all public servants during Public
Service Recognition Week, May 3 through May 9, 2026, and throughout the year;
and
(4) Call upon the people of the state of Arkansas to honor and
acknowledge the service of those who work on their behalf.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be
provided to the leadership of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Society
for Public Administration by the Secretary of Senate.
