Tucker678SENATE RESOLUTION9TO COMMEMORATE ARKANSAS PUBLIC SERVANTS AND TO10OBSERVE PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK FROM MAY 311THROUGH 9, 2026.121314Subtitle15TO COMMEMORATE ARKANSAS PUBLIC SERVANTS16AND TO OBSERVE PUBLIC SERVICE17RECOGNITION WEEK FROM MAY 3 THROUGH 9,182026.1920WHEREAS, the week of May 3 through May 9, 2026, has been designated as21 Public Service Recognition Week to honor employees of the federal government22 and state and local governments and members of the uniformed services who are23 entrusted with missions fundamental to the United States and deliver services24 upon which Americans depend; and2526WHEREAS, twenty-one thousand (21,000) federal government employees,27 seventy thousand (70,000) state government employees, and one hundred28 fourteen thousand (114,000) local government employees serve the public in29 every county and city across the state of Arkansas; and3031WHEREAS, public servants make substantial contributions to Arkansas32 communities through teaching children and adults, protecting life and33 property, improving health, licensing businesses and professionals, building34 infrastructure, running elections, supporting families, managing natural35 resources and public lands, developing the workforce and the economy, and36 enforcing laws and regulations that undergird private-sector growth, protect*ZRC200* 04/27/2026 2:18:06 PM ZRC200SR391 consumers, and sustain the conditions for a competitive and innovative2 marketplace; and34WHEREAS, public servants are critical to protecting the safety and5 security of Arkansans, working every day, often at great personal risk, to6 prevent harm, respond to crises and safeguard the lives and well-being of the7 communities they serve; and89WHEREAS, public service is a noble calling involving a variety of10 challenging and rewarding professions, and highly skilled and trained11 individuals offer their knowledge, effort, and expertise in support of the12 public good,1314 NOW THEREFORE,15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE16 STATE OF ARKANSAS:1718THAT the Senate:19(1) Commend the dedication, professionalism, and patriotism of20 the public servants of the State of Arkansas who deliver essential services21 to the people of Arkansas;22(2) Recognize the indispensable role of public servants in23 strengthening the Arkansas economy, protecting the safety and security of the24 public, safeguarding individual rights, and sustaining the foundations of25 democratic self-governance;26(3) Honor the contributions of all public servants during Public27 Service Recognition Week, May 3 through May 9, 2026, and throughout the year;28 and29(4) Call upon the people of the state of Arkansas to honor and30 acknowledge the service of those who work on their behalf.3132 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be33 provided to the leadership of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Society34 for Public Administration by the Secretary of Senate.3536204/27/2026 2:18:06 PM ZRC200
