A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE CITY OF ROCKY MOUNT FROM EXERCISING
EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OVER CERTAIN DESCRIBED PROPERTIES.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding G.S. 160D-202 or any other provision of law, the City
of Rocky Mount shall not exercise any powers of extraterritorial jurisdiction as provided in
Article 2 of Chapter 160D of the General Statutes or its predecessor, Article 19 of Chapter 160A
of the General Statutes, over the territory identified by the following Nash County Parcel
Identification Numbers: 385214338129U, 385214430568U, and 385214324427U.
SECTION 2. The relinquishment of jurisdiction by the City of Rocky Mount over
the area identified in Section 1 of this act shall become effective on the date this act becomes
law. Notwithstanding G.S. 160D-202(h), the property described in Section 1 of this act is subject
to the planning and development regulation jurisdiction, including the zoning authority, of Nash
County.
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law.
