Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A senate RESOLUTIONTO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF DylanCarter AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.Whereas, the members ofthe South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of DylanCarter on April 26, 2026; andWhereas, a native of St.George, Dylan was born on September 13, 2002, to Buddy Carter and the lateJulie Buchanan Carter. He was a 2020 honor graduate of Dorchester Academy,where he was an active honor student, played football and golf, and sang atmany school events. He was Mr. Sub Freshman and named Mr. Challenger in 2016.He shared his musical talent by singing at many chapel programs throughout hisschool years and beyond in graduations and baccalaureate programs; andWhereas, Dylan workedas a real estate agent with Carolina Properties, where he was known not onlyfor his professionalism, but for the genuine care and kindness he showed toevery client and colleague. He also worked tirelessly building and co-owningSunny Days Campground with his best friend and partner, Logan Lowder; andWhereas, Dylan's talentand passion for singing led him to be a contestant on season twenty-four of TheVoice in 2023. In his initial audition, he turned four chairs and ledjudges to tears with his rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Look to You," whichhe performed at his late mother's funeral. Throughout the season, Dylan competedfor Coach Reba McEntire; andWhereas, a civicleader, Dylan was the co-founder of The Local Voice, a local singingcompetition that raises money for women with breast cancer in the SanteeCommunity; andWhereas, a devoutChristian, he was a member of St. George United Methodist Church. He loved theLord and lived his life with kindness, warmth, and joy. He was truly loved byall who knew him and leaves behind a lasting impression on everyone he met; andWhereas, in his freetime, Dylan enjoyed singing at community events throughout the Lowcountry,volunteering with Living Word Ministries' stage productions, and spending timewith his family and friends; andWhereas, he waspreceded in death by his mother, Julie B. Carter, and his paternal grandfather,Bobby Carter; andWhereas, Dylan leavesto cherish his memory his father, Buddy Carter (Deanna); brother, Cole Carter(Collins); niece, Claire Julie Carter; maternal grandmother, Kaye B. Harper;paternal grandmother, Diane Carter; grandfathers, Jim Buchanan and LarryHarper; aunts, Kristen Buchanan Hatchell and Stephanie Harper; close cousins,Kaydance Hatchell, Jessica Byrd, and Matthew Byrd (Melissa); and his bestfriend, Logan Lowder. He will be greatly missed.
