Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A billTO AMEND ACT 509 OF 1982, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THEELECTION OF TRUSTEES OF ANDERSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 2, SO AS TO PROVIDETHAT SIX MEMBERS OF THE SEVEN-MEMBER GOVERNING BODY MUST BE ELECTED FROMSINGLE-MEMBER DISTRICTS.Be it enacted by theGeneral Assembly of the State of South Carolina:SECTION 1. SECTION 13A.(B)(1) of Act 509 of 1982, as last amended by Act 232 of 2024, is amended toread:(B)(1)Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the seven-member governing body ofAnderson County School District 2 must be elected as follows:(a) one membereach from Districts 2, 5, and 6 must be elected from eachrespective single-member district beginning with school trusteeelections in 20242028;(b) one membereach from Districts 1, 3, and 4 must be elected from eachrespective single-member district beginning with school trusteeelections in 2026; and(c) one memberelected from Anderson County School District 2 at large.A candidate for anumbered district seat must reside in, and be elected bythe qualified electors of, the district for which the candidate filesfor election. Each of the seven members must be elected to four-year terms by the qualified electors of all of Anderson County SchoolDistrict 2 with the winners from each numbered district seat and theat-large seat determined by plurality vote. The numbered districts are definedon map number S-07-02-24 as maintained in the Revenue and Fiscal AffairsOffice.SECTION 2.
