A house RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor the Latta High School Strength
and weightlifting team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season
and to congratulate them on winning the South Carolina High School Strength
Coaches Association Class A State Championship title.
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to learn that the members
of the Latta High School strength and weightlifting team captured the South
Carolina High School Strength Coaches Association Class A State Championship
title at the state meet held on March 21, 2026, at Lexington High School; and
Whereas, the Latta High
School Vikings competed in the regional qualifiers held at South Florence High
School in February, finishing in the top three of their respective weight
classes, and earning the qualification to participate in the South Carolina
High School Strength Coaches Association State Championship Meet; and
Whereas, at the state
meet, competitors from classifications A through AAAAA competed together, as
individual strength competitions are not divided by school classification.
Representing Latta High School was Gavin Aubin, Kayden Rogers, Joe'Maurie
Galloway, Zack Page, and Jackson Horne. The Vikings performed exceptionally
well and placed high enough in their respective weight classes to accumulate
the points needed to be crowned the Class A State Strength Champions; and
Whereas, Viking Gavin
Aubin placed second in the 190-pound division. His exceptional performance at
the state meet earned him All-State honors and a spot on the medal podium; and
Whereas, in a sport
that requires endurance and strength, Head Coach Brandon Iseman and his
talented coaching staff utilized their own athletic experience and passion for
the sport to craft a championship-caliber team. The lessons that they have
taught these young athletes will continue to prove invaluable on and off the
mat; and
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition
that the Latta High School strength and weightlifting athletes have brought to
their school and community. The members look forward to hearing of their future
achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the
South Carolina House of Representatives,
by this resolution, recognize and honor the Latta High School strength and weightlifting
team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate
them on winning the South Carolina High School Strength Coaches Association Class
A State Championship title.
Be it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Latta High School Principal Nan
Carmichael and Head Coach Brandon Iseman.
