                               HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 7010

                              A RESOLUTION urging the General Assembly to refrain from
                                           altering the composition of the ninth
                                           congressional district.
       WHEREAS, the city of Memphis is a coherent, large, and historic metropolitan area; and
       WHEREAS, this State's congressional districts were apportioned following the 2020
federal census and are not scheduled to be apportioned again until after the 2030 federal
census; now, therefore,
       BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we urge the members of the General Assembly to refrain from altering the
composition of the ninth congressional district without the approval of a three-fourths majority of
the official Shelby County delegation in the Tennessee General Assembly, in full accordance
with the law.
