scr62/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 62BY SENATOR HODGES AND REPRESENTATIVE CHASSIONA CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONTo urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to evaluateimpediments to safety measures and speed limits in school zones on state highways.WHEREAS, the safety of schoolchildren, crossing guards, parents, and schoolpersonnel traveling through school zones is a matter of vital public concern; andWHEREAS, following the tragic death of beloved crossing guard Katy Wells nearGray's Creek Elementary School in Livingston Parish, residents and elected officials haveexpressed concerns regarding speeding and dangerous driving conditions in that area; andWHEREAS, residents have reported repeated instances of motorists traveling atunsafe speeds through the school zone and near pedestrians, including children, walking toand from school; andWHEREAS, our students and the heroes who protect them every day deserve everypossible safeguard to prevent future tragedies and to remain safe in school zones.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does herebyurge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to evaluateimpediments to implementing enhanced safety measures and reduced speed limits in schoolzones located on state highways.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to thesecretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATESPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 1 of 1
