HR____ CONGRATULATING MR. EDDIE STOVALL FOR HIS MUSICAL
CONTRIBUTIONS TO ALABAMA.
WHEREAS, it is a pleasure to congratulate Mr. Eddie
Stovall, a native son of Montgomery, Alabama, and a proud
product of the King Hill community, for his contributions to
music in the State of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, having demonstrated exceptional musical
abilities from a young age, Mr. Stovall moved to Birmingham
at 14 years of age following the passing of his mother,
eventually graduating from the historic A.H. Parker High
School in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stovall honorably served his country in
the United States Army before embarking on a journey that
would see him become a global ambassador for American soul
music; and
WHEREAS, a devoted husband and father of 12, he moved
to Los Angeles, California, in 1975 to pursue his career,
touring extensively with his home-based group, "The Four
Tracks," and later sharing his talent with the world as a
member of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Stovall's career reached new heights as
the lead singer of The Platters, a role he continues to hold
today, traveling the world alongside his son, Mose Stovall,
and earning the esteemed title "The Emperor of Soul" for his

incomparable vocal range and spirit; and
WHEREAS, though he now resides in Branson, Missouri,
where he performs nightly at the Hot Hits Theater, his roots
remain firmly planted in Alabama soil, and his success
serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians across the
state; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mr. Eddie Stovall is hereby
congratulated for his extraordinary musical legacy, spanning
from the King Hill community to the greatest stages in the
world, and thanked for his contributions to the cultural
heritage of Alabama.
