EDDIE STOVALL FOR HIS MUSICAL5 CONTRIBUTIONS TO ALABAMA.67WHEREAS, it is a pleasure to congratulate Mr. Eddie8 Stovall, a native son of Montgomery, Alabama, and a proud9 product of the King Hill community, for his contributions to10 music in the State of Alabama; and11WHEREAS, having demonstrated exceptional musical12 abilities from a young age, Mr. Stovall moved to Birmingham13 at 14 years of age following the passing of his mother,14 eventually graduating from the historic A.H. Parker High15 School in 1966; and16WHEREAS, Mr. Stovall honorably served his country in17 the United States Army before embarking on a journey that18 would see him become a global ambassador for American soul19 music; and20WHEREAS, a devoted husband and father of 12, he moved21 to Los Angeles, California, in 1975 to pursue his career,22 touring extensively with his home-based group, "The Four23 Tracks," and later sharing his talent with the world as a24 member of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters; and25WHEREAS, Mr. Stovall's career reached new heights as26 the lead singer of The Platters, a role he continues to hold27 today, traveling the world alongside his son, Mose Stovall,28 and earning the esteemed title "The Emperor of Soul" for hisPage 1HR3 INTRODUCED29 incomparable vocal range and spirit; and30WHEREAS, though he now resides in Branson, Missouri,31 where he performs nightly at the Hot Hits Theater, his roots32 remain firmly planted in Alabama soil, and his success33 serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians across the34 state; now therefore,35BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE36 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mr. Eddie Stovall is hereby37 congratulated for his extraordinary musical legacy, spanning38 from the King Hill community to the greatest stages in the39 world, and thanked for his contributions to the cultural40 heritage of Alabama.Page 2
