4 HR____ CONGRATULATING MR. EDDIE STOVALL FOR HIS MUSICAL
5 CONTRIBUTIONS TO ALABAMA.

7WHEREAS, it is a pleasure to congratulate Mr. Eddie
8 Stovall, a native son of Montgomery, Alabama, and a proud
9 product of the King Hill community, for his contributions to
10 music in the State of Alabama; and
11WHEREAS, having demonstrated exceptional musical
12 abilities from a young age, Mr. Stovall moved to Birmingham
13 at 14 years of age following the passing of his mother,
14 eventually graduating from the historic A.H. Parker High
15 School in 1966; and
16WHEREAS, Mr. Stovall honorably served his country in
17 the United States Army before embarking on a journey that
18 would see him become a global ambassador for American soul
19 music; and
20WHEREAS, a devoted husband and father of 12, he moved
21 to Los Angeles, California, in 1975 to pursue his career,
22 touring extensively with his home-based group, "The Four
23 Tracks," and later sharing his talent with the world as a
24 member of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters; and
25WHEREAS, Mr. Stovall's career reached new heights as
26 the lead singer of The Platters, a role he continues to hold
27 today, traveling the world alongside his son, Mose Stovall,
28 and earning the esteemed title "The Emperor of Soul" for his

29 incomparable vocal range and spirit; and
30WHEREAS, though he now resides in Branson, Missouri,
31 where he performs nightly at the Hot Hits Theater, his roots
32 remain firmly planted in Alabama soil, and his success
33 serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians across the
34 state; now therefore,
35BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
36 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mr. Eddie Stovall is hereby
37 congratulated for his extraordinary musical legacy, spanning
38 from the King Hill community to the greatest stages in the
39 world, and thanked for his contributions to the cultural
40 heritage of Alabama.
