NO.215THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE, 2026STATE OF HAWAIIHOUSE RESOLUTIONAUTHORIZING AND EMPOWERING THE SPEAKER TO PERFORM ANDCARRY OUT ANY OFFICIAL LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS DURING THE INTERIM BETWEEN THE 2026AND 2027 REGULAR SESSIONS.���� BE ITRESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-third Legislature of theState of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2026, that the Speaker be, and is herebyauthorized and empowered during the interim between the 2026 and 2027 RegularSessions, to:���� (1)� Expend such sum or sums from the fundsappropriated for legislative and other expenses of the Thirty-thirdLegislature, Regular Session of 2026;���� (2)� Contract, hire, or employ personnel andassistance, including:��������� (A)� Designatingwhich of the employees and officers of the House shall be given additionalemployment to meet the after-session work demands; and(B)� Approving the employment of individuals priorto the convening of the Regular Session of 2027;��������� and theperiod of employment for each;���� (3)� Establish and approve any action of standing,interim, select, investigative, and special committees, including:��������� (A)� Authorizing meetings to obtain information andconduct hearings;��������� (B)� Determining members, functions, and duties ofsuch committees; provided that the Speaker, notwithstanding any priorauthorization or action, may, at the Speaker's discretion, limit the number ofmembers of the House participating on the committee;��������� (C)� Issuing subpoenas as provided by law or rulesof the House;��������� (D)� Authorizing in writing the payment of anycommittee related expenditure prior to the payment being made or incurred; and��������� (E)� Implementing a requirement that a full reportof all activities of the committees, including their respective findings andrecommendations, shall be made periodically to the Speaker as the Speaker sodesires, and to the Legislature within ten days after the convening of theRegular Session of 2027; and���� (4)� Approve the Journal of the House of anylegislative day being compiled as of the 58th session day,all for the purposes of completing the work of theThirty-third Legislature, Regular Session of 2026, subsequent to theadjournment thereof, including the carrying out of any official legislativebusiness in the interim between the 2026 and 2027 sessions, up to and includingJanuary 20, 2027, this authorization being in addition to any otherauthorization heretofore granted to the Speaker or any other officer orofficers of the House of Representatives.OFFERED BY:_____________________________Report Title:�InterimDuties; Speaker
