Commending the Formosan Association for Public Affairs.
Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, the Formosan Association for Public Affairs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Taiwanese Americans, has strengthened communities throughout the Commonwealth and the United States through outreach programs and advocacy for more than four decades; and
WHEREAS, established in Los Angeles, California, in 1982, the Formosan Association for Public Affairs has grown to include more than 2,700 active members in 44 chapters around the country; and
WHEREAS, the Formosan Association for Public Affairs promotes the shared commitment of Taiwan and the United States to upholding democratic values, freedom, and human rights; and
WHEREAS, in addition to building fellowship and celebrating Taiwanese culture through local community events, the Formosan Association for Public Affairs commemorates Taiwanese American Heritage Week during the week after Mother's Day every May; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Formosan Association for Public Affairs hereby be commended for its ongoing work to promote Taiwanese culture and support the Taiwanese American community in the Commonwealth and throughout the United States; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Formosan Association for Public Affairs as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's legacy of service to Taiwanese Americans.
