                          A RESOLUTION
1 Designating the month of June 2026 as "Dairy Month" in
2    Pennsylvania.
3    WHEREAS, The dairy industry is a vital sector of
4 Pennsylvania's agricultural industry; and
5    WHEREAS, Dairy farmers are established contributors to our
6 communities; and
7    WHEREAS, Dairy farming is an integral part of Pennsylvania's
8 agriculture and overall economy, generating $11.8 billion of
9 economic activity annually; and
10    WHEREAS, Pennsylvania ranks second in the nation in terms of
11 the number of dairy farms; and
12    WHEREAS, Pennsylvania ranks eighth nationally in milk
13 production, and this Commonwealth's 465,000 cows produce nearly
14 10 billion pounds of milk annually; and
15    WHEREAS, The dairy industry supports more than 47,000 jobs
16 across this Commonwealth; and
17    WHEREAS, Ninety-nine percent of the dairy farms in this
1 Commonwealth are family-owned; and
2    WHEREAS, Dairy farmers, their families and other dairy
3 industry employees should be recognized and celebrated;
4 therefore be it
5    RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of June 2026 as
6 "Dairy Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
7    RESOLVED, That the Senate bring awareness to the current
8 hardships facing the dairy industry in Pennsylvania; and be it
9 further
10    RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the immense value that
11 Pennsylvania's dairy industry injects into our State and local
12 economies; and be it further
13    RESOLVED, That the Senate applaud the hard work and
14 resiliency of our dairy farmers and their families; and be it
15 further
16    RESOLVED, That the Senate promote the purchase and
17 consumption of the high-quality dairy products produced here at
18 home in Pennsylvania.
