hb6019/introduced.txtHOUSE BILL NO. 6019A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled"The insurance code of 1956,"(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406ww.the people of the state of michigan enact:Sec. 3406ww. Aninsurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this state a healthinsurance policy shall consider the closure of a health system or the removalof a health system from the insurer's network as a qualifying event for aspecial enrollment period. As used in this section:(a) "Health system" means an entity or affiliated group ofentities under common ownership, governance, or control that operates ormanages 1 or more hospitals and may also include physician practices,outpatient facilities, long-term care facilities, laboratories, and otherhealth-care-related operations.(b) "Qualifying event" means that term as described in 45 CFR155.420.(c) "Special enrollment period" means that term as describedin 45 CFR 155.420.
