SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171

  A RESOLUTION
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
       upon the passing of Troy Carter, general manager, and the voice for the Chicken
       Shack restaurant.
       WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Baton
Rouge, Louisiana, the customers and staff of Chicken Shack, and people worldwide, learned
that God Almighty in his infinite wisdom called Troy Carter to eternal rest on May 25, 2026,
at the age of sixty-nine; and
       WHEREAS, Troy was born on November 15, 1956 in Checotah, Oklahoma and
enjoyed fishing, watching western shows and movies, reading the Bible, and dancing; and
       WHEREAS, many described the fun loving man as the general manager who worked
for over forty-six years and became the voice of Chicken Shack located at 413 North
Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge, LA; and
       WHEREAS, Troy, in answer to his pastor's challenge to the congregation, "to take
the ministry to the marketplace" decided that when he records the restaurant's daily menu
on the answering machine, he would add an inspirational message at the end; and
       WHEREAS, for seventeen years, the inspirational messages became so popular that
people from all over the world were known to call in just to listen to Troy's messages, which
always addressed the issues of the moments such as violence, bad weather, lost souls, and
asked people to pray about those problems; and
       WHEREAS, Troy regularly reminded people of positive things such as the need to
count their blessings, to pray continually for each other, to worship God, and give Him
praise, honor, and glory; and

       WHEREAS, Chicken Shack's staff grieved him by posting on social media "It is with
the heaviest heart that we inform our friends and family that our dear family member Troy
Carter has gone to be with the Father. We are praying for strength and peace to all the
family, friends, and all the people this man has touched in his life. He will be sincerely
missed and never forgotten"; and
       WHEREAS, Chicken Shack's staff tribute to Troy Carter, well describes the feelings
of so many that he impacted as he "took the ministry to the marketplace" per his pastor's
challenge.
       THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the passing of Troy Carter,
general manager, and the voice for Chicken Shack restaurant on North Acadian Thruway,
and extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that his memories will
forever bring to one of the oldest restaurant's in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Troy
Carter's family and the North Acadian Thruway Chicken Shack.
