scr86/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 86BY SENATOR LAMBERTA CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONTo commend and congratulate the French Settlement High School girls basketball team onwinning the 2026 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III Non-Select state championship.WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana legislature take great pride in recognizingthe achievements of student-athletes whose discipline, perseverance, and teamwork bringhonor to their schools and communities; andWHEREAS, the French Settlement girls basketball team won its first statechampionship in more than six decades when it defeated Westlake 44-34; andWHEREAS, the victory marked the Lady Lions' first state championship since 1964,restoring a tradition of excellence that has defined the French Settlement High School'sbasketball program for decades; andWHEREAS, the Lady Lions compiled an outstanding 31-3 record and demonstratedresilience and determination throughout the season and postseason; andWHEREAS, the team's belief and momentum were forged through several definingmoments during the season that ignited the team's confidence; andWHEREAS, the Lady Lions championship season was guided by Head Coach JakeBourgeois, assistant coaches Josh Comeau, Edward Allison, and Jennifer Hull, managersDemi Bantaa, Jaidyn Boully, and Mallory Miles, trainer Jenna Miller, and strength coach JDMcKinney; andWHEREAS, the members of the championship team include Natalie Almand, RemieGautreau, Braidy Trabeau, Stella Allison, Kloe Parrish, Kenna Miles, Ava Acosta, LondynCrowder, Kendyl Ortego, Laney Wilson, Rilan Delaneuville, Genna McMorris, GraceMcMorris, Dani Delhommer, Taylor Aydell, and Raamiah Kennedy; andWHEREAS, the dedication, sportsmanship, and teamwork demonstrated by theFrench Settlement Lady Lions reflect great credit upon the players, coaches, faculty,families, and the entire French Settlement community.Page 1 of 2SCR NO. 86 ENROLLEDTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does herebycommend the French Settlement High School Lady Lions basketball team on winning the2026 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III Non-Select statechampionship and does hereby encourage the coaches and players to continue their excellentwork and to always strive for greatness in competition.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted toPrincipal John Chewning and Head Coach Jake Bourgeois.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATESPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 2 of 2
