A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the French Settlement High School girls basketball team on
winning the 2026 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III Non-
Select state championship.
WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana legislature take great pride in recognizing
the achievements of student-athletes whose discipline, perseverance, and teamwork bring
honor to their schools and communities; and
WHEREAS, the French Settlement girls basketball team won its first state
championship in more than six decades when it defeated Westlake 44-34; and
WHEREAS, the victory marked the Lady Lions' first state championship since 1964,
restoring a tradition of excellence that has defined the French Settlement High School's
basketball program for decades; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Lions compiled an outstanding 31-3 record and demonstrated
resilience and determination throughout the season and postseason; and
WHEREAS, the team's belief and momentum were forged through several defining
moments during the season that ignited the team's confidence; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Lions championship season was guided by Head Coach Jake
Bourgeois, assistant coaches Josh Comeau, Edward Allison, and Jennifer Hull, managers
Demi Bantaa, Jaidyn Boully, and Mallory Miles, trainer Jenna Miller, and strength coach JD
McKinney; and
WHEREAS, the members of the championship team include Natalie Almand, Remie
Gautreau, Braidy Trabeau, Stella Allison, Kloe Parrish, Kenna Miles, Ava Acosta, Londyn
Crowder, Kendyl Ortego, Laney Wilson, Rilan Delaneuville, Genna McMorris, Grace
McMorris, Dani Delhommer, Taylor Aydell, and Raamiah Kennedy; and
WHEREAS, the dedication, sportsmanship, and teamwork demonstrated by the
French Settlement Lady Lions reflect great credit upon the players, coaches, faculty,
families, and the entire French Settlement community.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the French Settlement High School Lady Lions basketball team on winning the
2026 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III Non-Select state
championship and does hereby encourage the coaches and players to continue their excellent
work and to always strive for greatness in competition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Principal John Chewning and Head Coach Jake Bourgeois.
