EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE JOSEPH
FALVO

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of the
Honorable Joseph Falvo, of Johnston. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy D. Falvo.
Mr. Falvo was born in the City of Providence, the son of the late Vincenzo and Ernestina Falvo;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Falvo was a hard-working man who strove tirelessly to provide for his
family and loved ones. Mr. Falvo worked for United Wire & Supply for 31 years, and later for
J&K Electric as a sales manager for nearly 40 years. He also served our nation with honor and
distinction as a member of the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Falvo had a distinguished public service life, first as the Sealer of
Weights and Measures for the Town of Johnston, and later as a member of the Johnston Town
Council for 26 years, where he served his constituents with abiding integrity and tireless
devotion. Mr. Falvo also served as a longtime member and Chairman of the Board of Canvassers;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Falvo was a man of deep faith and was a communicant and lector at
Holy Cross Church in Providence. His true passion in life, in addition to his family, professional
career and public service, was his garden which he maintained meticulously. He was a passionate
golfer and handball player, and he treasured his annual visits to Niagara Falls to visit his cousins,
Dominic and Vince, who were as close as brothers to him; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Falvo leaves behind his children, Steven T. Falvo, and his wife,
Elizabeth, and Joseph S. Falvo, and his late wife, Barbara. Joseph Falvo also leaves behind his
grandchildren, Barbi-Jo Falvo, Joseph J. Falvo, Tanya Boyer and her husband, Brett, Steven R.
Falvo and Meaghan E. Lombardo, and her husband, Joseph, and his great-granddaughters, Siena
and Savannah Lombardo. Mr. Falvo was the brother of Vincent Falvo, and his wife, Jean, and the
late Peter Falvo, Anthony Falvo, and Santina Adamo; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest
condolences on the passing of the Honorable Joseph Falvo; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Steven T. Falvo and Joseph S. Falvo.
