R. 9217 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 9, 2026 Mr. Garbarino (for himself and Ms. Houlahan ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture A BILLTo amend the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 to provide for high-priority research and extension grants for natural climate solutions, and for other purposes.1.Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Natural Climate Solutions Research and Extension Act of 2026 .2.High-priority research and extension grants for natural climate solutionsSection 1672(d) of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 ( 7 U.S.C. 5925(d) ) is amended by adding at the end the following:(21)Natural climate solutionsResearch and extension grants may be made under this section for the purpose of advancing land management practices that store carbon or reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural lands and soils, grasslands, wetlands, and forests, including practices that—(A)are based on traditional ecological knowledge;(B)promote biodiversity and climate change resilience; and(C)reduce runoff..
