sr4/introduced.txt26LC 47 4395-ECSenate Resolution 4EXBy: Senators Dolezal of the 27th, Walker III of the 20th, Anavitarte of the 31st, Still of the48th, Burns of the 23rd and othersA RESOLUTION1 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Georgia so as to clarify that only2 citizens of the United States shall have a right to vote in elections in this state; to provide for3 related matters; to provide for the submission of this amendment for ratification or rejection;4 and for other purposes.5BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6SECTION 1.7 Article II, Section I of the Constitution is amended by revising Paragraph II as follows:8 "Paragraph II. Right to register and vote. (a) Every person who is a citizen of the9 United States and a resident of Georgia as defined by law, who is at least 18 years of age10 and not disenfranchised by this article, and who meets minimum residency requirements11 as provided by law shall be entitled to vote at any election by the people. The General12 Assembly shall provide by law for the registration of electors.13 (b) No person who is not a citizen of the United States shall be entitled to vote at any14 election by the people."S. R. 4EX-1-26LC 47 4395-EC15SECTION 2.16 The above proposed amendment to the Constitution shall be published and submitted as17 provided in Article X, Section I, Paragraph II of the Constitution. The ballot submitting the18 above proposed amendment shall have written or printed thereon the following:19 "( ) YES Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to provide that no person who20 ( ) NO is not a citizen of the United States shall be entitled to vote at any election by21the people?"22 All persons desiring to vote in favor of ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote "Yes."23 All persons desiring to vote against ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote "No." If24 such amendment shall be ratified as provided in said Paragraph of the Constitution, it shall25 become a part of the Constitution of this state.S.
