                                 A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing October 25–31, 2026, as WE ARE ILL WEEK and commending We Are ILL
2 for its commitment to advancing awareness, advocacy, and support for individuals living
3 with chronic illness, autoimmune disease, and neurological conditions; and for other
4 purposes.
5 WHEREAS, chronic illness, autoimmune diseases, and neurological conditions impact
6 millions of individuals and families across the United States and throughout the State of
7 Georgia, affecting physical health, emotional well-being, employment, caregiving
8 responsibilities, and quality of life; and
9 WHEREAS, many chronic and autoimmune conditions, including but not limited to multiple
10 sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), lupus, and related
11 illnesses, are often invisible or misunderstood, contributing to delayed diagnosis, barriers to
12 care, and social stigma; and
13 WHEREAS, Black women and other historically underserved communities experience
14 disproportionate challenges related to chronic illness, including inequitable health outcomes,
15 systemic barriers to care, and disparities in diagnosis and treatment; and

16 WHEREAS, We Are ILL was established to amplify the voices and lived experiences of
17 individuals navigating chronic illness, elevate patient and caregiver advocacy, promote
18 public awareness, and encourage equitable, compassionate, and person-centered systems of
19 care; and
20 WHEREAS, We Are ILL creates opportunities for collaboration across disease communities
21 and awareness observances, fostering collective action, education, and engagement among
22 patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, advocates, and policymakers; and
23 WHEREAS, WE ARE ILL WEEK will serve as an opportunity to increase awareness,
24 encourage advocacy, elevate community voices, and recognize the resilience of individuals
25 and families impacted by chronic illness throughout Georgia; and
26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of
27 organizations and individuals working to improve the lives of those affected by chronic
28 illness be appropriately honored.
29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
30 the members of this body recognize October 25–31, 2026, as WE ARE ILL WEEK and
31 commend We Are ILL for its leadership and advocacy on behalf of individuals living with
32 chronic illness and caregivers throughout Georgia and beyond.
33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
34 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to We
35 Are ILL.
