                                 A RESOLUTION
1 Commending and congratulating Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs; and for other purposes.
2 WHEREAS, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs was born on June 20, 1926, to Claudia Smith and John
3 Jackson Sr., and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 100th birthday;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs spent her early
6 years in Smith Chapel AME Church, a congregation built by her grandparents, and later
7 became a devoted member of Brooks Memorial Methodist Church, where she is proudly
8 recognized today as the church's oldest living member; and
9 WHEREAS, throughout her life, she has dedicated innumerable hours of her time and energy
10 toward her community, serving as president of multiple Parent Teacher Associations,
11 working in public school systems, and owning and operating a successful restaurant and
12 catering business for 50 years; and
13 WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided
14 the foundation of success from which her family members have developed and flourished,

15 as evidenced by her two remarkable sons, Jeffrey and Bruce, as well as her three wonderful
16 grandchildren, Ashley, Solomon, and Ananda; and
17 WHEREAS, at 100 years old, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs continues to inspire those around her
18 with her energy, humor, and love of dancing, laughter, and time spent with family and
19 friends; and
20 WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her lifetime
21 and we salute her contributions to its progress through her tireless efforts on behalf of her
22 community and extended family; and
23 WHEREAS, by the example Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs has made of her life, she makes this
24 world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately
25 recognized during this very special and memorable time.
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
27 the members of this body commend Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs for her unselfish, dedicated,
28 and loving service to the members of her family and community; congratulate her on the
29 remarkable occasion of her 100th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for
30 continued health and happiness.
31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Julia
33 Lee Jackson Dobbs.
