hr4/introduced.txt26LC 112 4258House Resolution 4EXBy: Representatives Davis of the 87th, Drenner of the 85th, Mitchell of the 88th, Schofield ofthe 63rd, Scott of the 76th, and othersA RESOLUTION1 Commending and congratulating Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs was born on June 20, 1926, to Claudia Smith and John3 Jackson Sr., and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 100th birthday;4 and5 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs spent her early6 years in Smith Chapel AME Church, a congregation built by her grandparents, and later7 became a devoted member of Brooks Memorial Methodist Church, where she is proudly8 recognized today as the church's oldest living member; and9 WHEREAS, throughout her life, she has dedicated innumerable hours of her time and energy10 toward her community, serving as president of multiple Parent Teacher Associations,11 working in public school systems, and owning and operating a successful restaurant and12 catering business for 50 years; and13 WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided14 the foundation of success from which her family members have developed and flourished,H. R. 4EX-1-26LC 112 425815 as evidenced by her two remarkable sons, Jeffrey and Bruce, as well as her three wonderful16 grandchildren, Ashley, Solomon, and Ananda; and17 WHEREAS, at 100 years old, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs continues to inspire those around her18 with her energy, humor, and love of dancing, laughter, and time spent with family and19 friends; and20 WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her lifetime21 and we salute her contributions to its progress through her tireless efforts on behalf of her22 community and extended family; and23 WHEREAS, by the example Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs has made of her life, she makes this24 world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately25 recognized during this very special and memorable time.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body commend Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs for her unselfish, dedicated,28 and loving service to the members of her family and community; congratulate her on the29 remarkable occasion of her 100th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for30 continued health and happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Julia33 Lee Jackson Dobbs.H.
