hr18/introduced.txt26LC 112 4278House Resolution 18EXBy: Representatives Beckles of the 96th, Clark of the 108th, McClain of the 109th, Park of the107th, Mitchell of the 88th, and othersA RESOLUTION1 Commending the City of Duluth upon the occasion of its 150th Anniversary; and for other2 purposes.3 WHEREAS, the City of Duluth was founded in 1876 and has proudly served as a cornerstone4 of Gwinnett County for 150 years, growing from a small railroad community into one of5 Georgia's most vibrant and thriving municipalities; and6 WHEREAS, throughout its rich history, Duluth has demonstrated a steadfast commitment7 to progress, innovation, and community engagement while preserving the values and8 traditions that have shaped its unique identity; and9 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Mayor Greg Whitlock and the members of the Duluth10 City Council—Marline Thomas, Lamar Doss, Manfred Graeder, Shenee Johnson-Cummings,11 and Sarah Park—the City of Duluth has continued to advance a vision of responsible growth,12 responsive government, and strong community engagement while fostering opportunities for13 residents, businesses, and visitors alike; and14 WHEREAS, the City of Duluth has emerged as a major economic engine within Gwinnett15 County and the State of Georgia, attracting businesses, supporting entrepreneurship,H. R. 18EX-1-26LC 112 427816 promoting tourism and entertainment, and creating economic opportunities that contribute17 significantly to the prosperity of the region; and18 WHEREAS, Duluth's rich multicultural heritage and diverse population reflect the strength19 of Georgia's communities, bringing together people of different backgrounds, cultures, and20 experiences to build a vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming city that enriches the social and21 economic fabric of Gwinnett County; and22 WHEREAS, generations of residents, business owners, civic leaders, educators, public23 servants, and volunteers have contributed to the growth and success of the City of Duluth,24 creating a community known for its diversity, resilience, and welcoming spirit; and25 WHEREAS, Duluth has become a destination for families, entrepreneurs, artists, and visitors26 alike through its vibrant downtown district, thriving business community, outstanding parks27 and recreational facilities, cultural events, and commitment to quality of life; and28 WHEREAS, the city continues to play a significant role in the economic, cultural, and civic29 vitality of Gwinnett County and the State of Georgia; and30 WHEREAS, on September 12, 2026, residents and visitors will gather to celebrate "The Big31 150: Off the Rails," commemorating a century and a half of achievement, growth, and32 community pride while honoring the city's past and embracing its future; and33 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments and34 enduring contributions of the City of Duluth be appropriately honored.H. R. 18EX-2-26LC 112 427835 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that36 the members of this body commend the City of Duluth upon the grand occasion of its 150th37 Anniversary and extend their sincerest congratulations to its residents, elected officials,38 businesses, and community partners for their many contributions to the prosperity and39 well-being of the State of Georgia.40 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized41 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the42 public and the press.H.
