                                 A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing and commending Jermaine Dupri; and for other purposes.
2 WHEREAS, Jermaine Dupri is an internationally acclaimed GRAMMY® Award-winning
3 songwriter, producer, rapper, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural icon whose influence
4 on the music industry spans more than three decades; and
5 WHEREAS, with over half a billion records sold worldwide, Jermaine Dupri has
6 distinguished himself as one of the most successful and influential producers in modern
7 music history, shaping the sound and direction of R&B, hip-hop, and pop music through his
8 visionary creativity and business leadership; and
9 WHEREAS, as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of So So Def Recordings,
10 established in 1993 in Atlanta, Georgia, he built one of the most impactful independent
11 record labels in music history, elevating Southern hip-hop and Atlanta's music scene onto the
12 global stage; and
13 WHEREAS, Jermaine Dupri has produced and written numerous chart-topping and
14 culture-defining songs, including "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey, recognized by
15 Billboard as the "Song of the Decade" and one of the greatest songs of all time, as well as

16 iconic hits such as "Nice & Slow" by Usher, "Just Kickin' It" by Xscape, and "Money Ain't
17 a Thang" featuring JAY-Z; and
18 WHEREAS, his remarkable achievements include becoming one of the few producers in
19 music history to simultaneously hold four positions in Billboard's Hot 100 Top 10 chart
20 rankings, further cementing his legacy as a transformative force in entertainment; and
21 WHEREAS, in 2025, Jermaine Dupri was honored as Billboard's #1 Top R&B/Hip-Hop
22 Producer of the 21st Century and ranked #9 among Billboard's Top Music Producers of the
23 21st Century across all genres, underscoring his enduring excellence and impact on global
24 music culture; and
25 WHEREAS, his work through So So Def launched and elevated the careers of numerous
26 artists and produced classic albums including Funkdafied by Da Brat, the first solo female
27 rap album to go platinum, Beware of Dog by Bow Wow, J.E. Heartbreak by Jagged Edge,
28 and Comin' from Where I'm From by Anthony Hamilton; and
29 WHEREAS, Jermaine Dupri became only the second rapper ever inducted into the
30 Songwriters Hall of Fame, following JAY-Z, in recognition of his groundbreaking
31 achievements and songwriting excellence; and
32 WHEREAS, the GRAMMY Museum honored his extraordinary legacy and cultural
33 contributions with the dedicated exhibit Jermaine Dupri & So So Def: 25 Years of Elevating
34 Culture; and
35 WHEREAS, beyond music, Jermaine Dupri has expanded his artistic and entrepreneurial
36 influence through acting, philanthropy, mentorship, and community engagement, inspiring

37 generations of artists, creators, and entrepreneurs throughout Georgia, the nation, and the
38 world.
39 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
40 the members of this body recognize and commend Jermaine Dupri as a pioneering cultural
41 ambassador whose creativity, innovation, and commitment to excellence have elevated
42 Atlanta as a global center of music, entertainment, and Black culture.
43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
44 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
45 Jermaine Dupri.
