hr55/introduced.txt26LC 112 4340House Resolution 55EXBy: Representatives Adeyina of the 110th, Stephens of the 164th, Olaleye of the 59th,Cummings of the 39th, Beckles of the 96th, and othersA RESOLUTION1 Recognizing and honoring the Morocco National Football Team for competing in the 20262 FIFA World Cup; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the people of the State of Georgia join millions of football supporters around4 the world in celebrating the remarkable achievement of the Morocco National Football5 Team, known as the Atlas Lions, in competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; and6 WHEREAS, the Kingdom of Morocco has established itself as one of the premier football7 nations in Africa and the Arab world, earning international acclaim through its commitment8 to athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and national pride; and9 WHEREAS, Morocco made history at the 2022 FIFA World Cup by becoming the first10 African and Arab nation to advance to the semifinals of the tournament, inspiring millions11 across Africa, the Middle East, and the global Moroccan diaspora and demonstrating the12 limitless potential of African football on the world stage; and13 WHEREAS, the Morocco National Football Team has become a source of immense pride14 and national unity throughout the Kingdom of Morocco and among Moroccan communities15 around the world, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds through a shared spiritH. R. 55EX-1-26LC 112 434016 of patriotism, excellence, and achievement and serving as a powerful symbol of hope,17 perseverance, and collective aspiration; and18 WHEREAS, the continued success of Moroccan football reflects the vision and leadership19 of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football -20 FRMF), whose sustained investment in youth development, coaching excellence,21 infrastructure, and long-term strategic planning has elevated Morocco's standing in22 international football and inspired a new generation of athletes; and23 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Mohamed Ouahbi, the Morocco National24 Football Team has continued to exemplify discipline, determination, teamwork, and25 excellence, earning its place among the world's elite football nations and competing in the26 2026 FIFA World Cup; and27 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is home to a growing Moroccan-American community28 whose contributions in business, education, healthcare, technology, culture, and civic29 engagement enrich the social and economic fabric of the state; and30 WHEREAS, the longstanding friendship and growing economic, educational, cultural, and31 diplomatic ties between the State of Georgia, the United States, and the Kingdom of Morocco32 continue to foster mutual understanding, international cooperation, and opportunities for33 trade, investment, and cultural exchange; and34 WHEREAS, the hosting of FIFA World Cup matches in Atlanta further strengthens these35 international connections by welcoming visitors, athletes, and supporters from Morocco and36 around the globe to the State of Georgia; andH. R. 55EX-2-26LC 112 434037 WHEREAS, Morocco's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup serves as a source of pride38 for Moroccan-Americans throughout Georgia and reflects the resilience, unity, and39 aspirations of the Moroccan people; and40 WHEREAS, as part of the tournament, the Atlas Lions will compete against the Haiti41 National Football Team at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 24, 2026,42 providing a unique opportunity for supporters from across Georgia and around the world to43 witness international competition at the highest level while highlighting Atlanta's role as a44 host city for one of the world's most prestigious sporting events; and45 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Morocco National Football Team serve as a46 powerful symbol of excellence, perseverance, resilience, and national unity, inspiring future47 generations of athletes throughout Morocco, Georgia, the United States, Africa, and the48 world; and49 WHEREAS, the members of the Morocco National Football Team, whose talent, dedication,50 and commitment have earned the honor of representing the Kingdom of Morocco on the51 world's greatest sporting stage, have demonstrated exceptional skill, professionalism, and52 sportsmanship in competition; and53 WHEREAS, the coaching staff, technical team, and support personnel have played an54 integral role in the team's success through their leadership, preparation, and unwavering55 commitment to excellence; and56 WHEREAS, these players, coaches, and support personnel serve as ambassadors for the57 Kingdom of Morocco and role models for aspiring athletes, showcasing the values of hard58 work, determination, and national pride; andH. R. 55EX-3-26LC 112 434059 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia proudly recognizes the dedication, sacrifice, and60 achievements of the Morocco National Football Team as they represent their nation on the61 global stage and inspire people around the world through their excellence in sport.62 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that63 the members of this body honor the Morocco National Football Team, Head Coach64 Mohamed Ouahbi, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the coaching staff, and65 all players for their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; recognize their FIFA World66 Cup match against Haiti at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 24, 2026;67 and extend best wishes for continued success and achievement throughout the tournament.68 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized69 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the70 Morocco National Football Team.H.
