                                A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing and honoring the Morocco National Football Team for competing in the 2026
2 FIFA World Cup; and for other purposes.
3 WHEREAS, the people of the State of Georgia join millions of football supporters around
4 the world in celebrating the remarkable achievement of the Morocco National Football
5 Team, known as the Atlas Lions, in competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; and
6 WHEREAS, the Kingdom of Morocco has established itself as one of the premier football
7 nations in Africa and the Arab world, earning international acclaim through its commitment
8 to athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and national pride; and
9 WHEREAS, Morocco made history at the 2022 FIFA World Cup by becoming the first
10 African and Arab nation to advance to the semifinals of the tournament, inspiring millions
11 across Africa, the Middle East, and the global Moroccan diaspora and demonstrating the
12 limitless potential of African football on the world stage; and
13 WHEREAS, the Morocco National Football Team has become a source of immense pride
14 and national unity throughout the Kingdom of Morocco and among Moroccan communities
15 around the world, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds through a shared spirit

16 of patriotism, excellence, and achievement and serving as a powerful symbol of hope,
17 perseverance, and collective aspiration; and
18 WHEREAS, the continued success of Moroccan football reflects the vision and leadership
19 of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football -
20 FRMF), whose sustained investment in youth development, coaching excellence,
21 infrastructure, and long-term strategic planning has elevated Morocco's standing in
22 international football and inspired a new generation of athletes; and
23 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Mohamed Ouahbi, the Morocco National
24 Football Team has continued to exemplify discipline, determination, teamwork, and
25 excellence, earning its place among the world's elite football nations and competing in the
26 2026 FIFA World Cup; and
27 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is home to a growing Moroccan-American community
28 whose contributions in business, education, healthcare, technology, culture, and civic
29 engagement enrich the social and economic fabric of the state; and
30 WHEREAS, the longstanding friendship and growing economic, educational, cultural, and
31 diplomatic ties between the State of Georgia, the United States, and the Kingdom of Morocco
32 continue to foster mutual understanding, international cooperation, and opportunities for
33 trade, investment, and cultural exchange; and
34 WHEREAS, the hosting of FIFA World Cup matches in Atlanta further strengthens these
35 international connections by welcoming visitors, athletes, and supporters from Morocco and
36 around the globe to the State of Georgia; and

37 WHEREAS, Morocco's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup serves as a source of pride
38 for Moroccan-Americans throughout Georgia and reflects the resilience, unity, and
39 aspirations of the Moroccan people; and
40 WHEREAS, as part of the tournament, the Atlas Lions will compete against the Haiti
41 National Football Team at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 24, 2026,
42 providing a unique opportunity for supporters from across Georgia and around the world to
43 witness international competition at the highest level while highlighting Atlanta's role as a
44 host city for one of the world's most prestigious sporting events; and
45 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Morocco National Football Team serve as a
46 powerful symbol of excellence, perseverance, resilience, and national unity, inspiring future
47 generations of athletes throughout Morocco, Georgia, the United States, Africa, and the
48 world; and
49 WHEREAS, the members of the Morocco National Football Team, whose talent, dedication,
50 and commitment have earned the honor of representing the Kingdom of Morocco on the
51 world's greatest sporting stage, have demonstrated exceptional skill, professionalism, and
52 sportsmanship in competition; and
53 WHEREAS, the coaching staff, technical team, and support personnel have played an
54 integral role in the team's success through their leadership, preparation, and unwavering
55 commitment to excellence; and
56 WHEREAS, these players, coaches, and support personnel serve as ambassadors for the
57 Kingdom of Morocco and role models for aspiring athletes, showcasing the values of hard
58 work, determination, and national pride; and

59 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia proudly recognizes the dedication, sacrifice, and
60 achievements of the Morocco National Football Team as they represent their nation on the
61 global stage and inspire people around the world through their excellence in sport.
62 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
63 the members of this body honor the Morocco National Football Team, Head Coach
64 Mohamed Ouahbi, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the coaching staff, and
65 all players for their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; recognize their FIFA World
66 Cup match against Haiti at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 24, 2026;
67 and extend best wishes for continued success and achievement throughout the tournament.
68 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
69 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
70 Morocco National Football Team.
