R. 9756 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES July 16, 2026 Mr. McGuire introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary A BILLTo direct the Director of the Bureau of Prisons to provide medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction to certain women.1.Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Maternal Access to Treatment Act of 2026 or the MAT Act of 2026 .2.Medication assisted treatment(a)RequirementThe Director of the Bureau of Prisons shall provide medication assisted treatment (commonly known as MAT ) to each pregnant woman in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons addicted to opioids.(b)ExceptionA pregnant woman who is mentally competent may deny the provision of medication assisted treatment under subsection (a).
