No. 4672025-2026Senator PattonTo amend section 4549.13 of the Revised Code to 1modify when a marked police car must be used for 2traffic law enforcement. 3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:Section 1. That section 4549.13 of the Revised Code be 4amended to read as follows: 5Sec. 4549.13. Any motor vehicle used by a member of the 6state highway patrol or by any other peace officer, while said 7officer is on duty for the exclusive or main purpose of 8enforcing the motor vehicle or traffic laws of this state, 9provided the offense is punishable as a misdemeanor or as a 10civil traffic law violation recorded by a traffic law photo- 11monitoring device, as defined in section 4511.092 of the Revised 12Code, shall be marked in some distinctive manner or color and 13that is equivalent to the other motor vehicles used by that 14jurisdiction for law enforcement purposes. The motor vehicle 15shall be equipped with, but need not necessarily have in 16operation at all times, at least one flashing, oscillating, or 17rotating colored light mounted outside on top of the vehicle. 18The superintendent of the state highway patrol shall specify 19what constitutes such a distinctive marking or color for the 20state highway patrol. 21S.
