Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTO CONGRATULATE RECENT WILSON HALL GRADUATE FORDWILDER UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS SIGNING TO PLAY BASKETBALL FOR THE UNIVERSITYOF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AS HE PURSUES BOTH ACADEMIC ANDATHLETIC EXCELLENCE IN THE YEARS AHEAD.Whereas, the SouthCarolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Ford Wilder, arecent graduate of Sumter's Wilson Hall, has signed to play basketball for theUniversity of South Carolina (USC); andWhereas, an outstandingstudent and a three-sport standout at Wilson Hall, Ford Wilder played footballand basketball and also competed in track and field over the course of his highschool years; andWhereas, this triplethreat could have pursued that third sport at Wofford, but basketball, hisfavorite sport, remained an option at USC, his #1 college choice; andWhereas, the USC optionbecame a reality the day Ford Wilder signed a financial-aid agreement as a newscholarship athlete to play basketball for Head Coach Lamont Paris and the USCGamecocks. Ford's response to this honor was grateful acknowledgment of God'sprovidence, exercised on his behalf: "I can't thank the Lord enough for puttingme in this opportunity to compete and get better every day"; andWhereas, during hiscareer with the Wilson Hall Barons, Ford scored more than 1,300 points. Hissenior year saw him average 23 points per game; andWhereas, moreover, hewas honored as a News19 Player of the Week, and later, in May, he wasnamed a News19 Player of the Year; andWhereas, with greatpleasure, the House salutes Ford Wilder on his most recent accomplishments, andthe members look with interest to hearing of his further achievements.
